Description
The "Guitars..." franchise is in full production mode at the moment. Following "Guitars on the Boulevard" (http://www.macjams.com/song/71679) that Philip and I recently posted, I suggested to Philip that perhaps we might post a steel string acoustic / nylon string number next up.

This project again started with a chord progression and Philip took it away and laid down the rhythm tracks. I put the steel string lead over the top and then Philip filled in the spaces most admirably with his Gibson nylon string.

The strings and Boldt Trumpet Langtons came late in the piece and hopefully add to the "mariachi" mood of the instrumental.

Philip found the design art. What a classic!

Anyway, we hope you like our trip north of the border (for us Aussies :-)).

Regards,

Peter & Philip

Steel string
Thanks, Andrew. We enjoy playing together and I guess it comes across. My Maton acoustic turns 30 this year and it has brought me many, many hours of enjoyment (and maintained my sanity..., I think). On behalf of Philip and myself, thank you. Peter

Where's Snooper and Blabber?
Philip and I are going to have to toss to see who is who :-) Or am I Hanna and Philip, Barbera (sic). Glad you enjoyed our trip to Cuba. Take care, Peter.

Havana
P&P strike again with a cool Latin atmosphere. man i love the sound of a nylon guitar, but that wide neck took me a while to get used to. really good sound the two of you captured. very authentic.

Police Academy XV...
P&P thank you kindly, Sam. This franchise could have more sequels than Police Academy. Hopefully with a slightly better track record for quality... I like the sound of a nylon string as well. Take care, Peter.

The dynamics
are superb .I am having a real hard time mastering because I cannot come up with the full tone and vibrancy that went in !!

This is very nicely played and produced, with a real latin flavour Imay just light up a ceeegar and have a cubalibra...or something wit' an ombrella in eet.....nice.

Hey hombre...
I hope that the ombrella is not in the ceeegar... but I suppose it does rain heavily down there. Perhaps you have just invented a new product line. All the guitars where recorded using good quality condensor mics and Ozone 5 adds the mastering punch at the end to bring them fully to life. Thanks, Chris. Take care.

Thanks Richard. See Sam above for how long we think we can keep this going :-) Perhaps we might head down the delta next for some slide and low down dirty blues... Take care, Peter.

Great record cover!
I think I'll wear a similar outfit on my next recording, which features a bossa nova rhythm. Short and sweet; very good combo of playing styles. Is that you or Philip in the picture?

Dress ups...
It is Philip, of course. You only need to go back to the photo art of one of his more recent songs, "Your Love", to see that he is the one who enjoys dressing up. Thanks for having a listen and commenting, Graham. Regards, Peter.

Sprung!
I was hoping the makeup and costume were enough of a disguise, but I see I've been caught out! Was it the nylon strung guitar that gave me away?

Thanks for having me along on this one, Peter! I do think it ended up sounding pretty good - seems energetic but relaxed, if that makes sense! No doubt you got that Maton sounding sweet for the lead lines! See you soon. Philip

Havana bound
Sunshine and warm breezes, no doubt influenced by the Aussie summer. Lovely tone guys. Your interplay and sense of fun while performing reminds me of Acoustic Alchemy (even if the style is different). Mix and arrangement both sound good in my ears.

Now which one of you posed for the LP cover??

Appreciate the dload that brings some sunshine to a grey day.

Cheers,
Doug

Oh man this is nice
I really would love to hear this w/o the strings. No offense please! As I listen a second time I am wondering what the tune sounded like before you embellished it...kind of like "let it be naked".
Great playing and a bright and happy tune. I love acoustic guitar banter...its my fav...this is great!
Peace

Next outing?
Thanks for dropping around, Tim. Bright and happy is what we were after, so it is good you picked up that vibe. I will have a listen to the mix w/o strings/horns and see what it did sound like "naked". Perhaps we will hold off on the background arrangement in our next outing. Take care, Peter.
