Description
Explicit content indeed - who do they think I am, mind you I do think swearing is really funny.

The music is an original composition, the melody of which I wrote about twenty years ago. I have carried it about with me eversince but have only recently decided to harmonize it. It is I suppose a sort of Baroque piece in style which is probably my favourite type of music.

It is all played on a synthesizer and uses six tracks. Five being used for the synth sounds and the other a virtual harpsichord which I suppose is also a synthesizer really isn't it.

The Spog is a mythical creature which is only found in Wales.

Handel indeed. comfy roomy sound and feel on the recording. i too don't see the correlation of your info and the song. is "spogs" a naughty word?

Hi Sammy
thank you for visiting - I have now put a bit more info in the description area - bye the way -Spogs are mythical creatures, no certainly not a naughty word, I don't use naughty words ever. I had to give this piece a name as there is a tendency to sound pretentious when getting involved with classical stuff - you know - using words like - movement and invention, and partita - cough cough !

Excellent
and very explicit: "stated clearly and in detail". I assume this is an original composition and applaud you. I'd throw money but it's too far.

You truly have a Handel on this baroque
and I'll be Bach to listen to this again I'm sure. Superb work from you John--very impressive and it is brilliantly done. Thanks for sharing this! Love it, Michael

I like the classical feel
This is a wonderful composition to hear. I think you might be getting Bach a bit jealous with this incredibly melodic tune. I am a hound for classical pieces that are really melodic and have a nice beat. This really fits the bill !

Lots of classical fund woof! Way To Go ! Really impressed with your versatility in Rock and Classical and who knows whats more cool stuff!

Wow!

I love music from that time for much the same reason as you - it's so definite and solid, the later fellas like Mozart never did as much for me.

Thank you
the tune is mainly in three parts, so there is not a lot to this as much of it is repetition. I did harmonize it very crudely at the time it was written but about a month ago decided to take some time with it and do it properly. I'm glad you liked it.

Lovely melody lines
Sounds great as it is, would possibly sound even better played by a baroque sextet of some kind. Anyhow, thanks for putting it out here where we can hear it!

woofer3 said 2074 days ago (February 17th, 2012)
thank you
I totally agree that this would sound much better using authentic instruments but I have always felt that the synthesizer had it's own sort of quirky come comic charm when applied to almost any form of ancient music, something that dawned on me after hearing Walter Carlos' -Switched on Bach -

Thanks for visiting and I'm glad you liked it.

Lovely tune and sounds.
Old melodies to you are new to us :) I love that it reminds me somewhat of the beatles piggies. Very much enjoyed. Great sounds indeed.

I am pleased that you liked this and I know what you mean by the Piggies comparison - I always thought that Piggies had a certain 'pomp' about it and I think this has too.

Appreciate your visit.

Has that Baroque feel to the melody - light and airy. Happy music. I like the way the various parts travel in different directions around the central theme. Much enjoyed!

This is authentic stuff - sounds like you really time-travelled back to the baroque era for this. I've never heard of the Welsh Spog mythology!

I think our President Baroque Obama would like this piece. I certainly did. Nothing the woofer can't do with a keyboard. Nice bass pattern also.

EXCELLENT!

top of the spogs
I've never heard of 'em either.
No info on Google.
Is the Spog related to Gog and Magog?
Anyway, you really are a very talented musician John.
Very interesting compositon and echoes of Walter /Wendy Carlos without feeling like a rip off.
Wonderful stuff
cheers

No you won't know about Spogs and they're a bit like fairies in some respects in as much as you have to believe in them before you can see them. I will tell you this though - they are very ugly and stand about three to four feet tall - oh my goodness, I have to go - I've said too much already....

John.

wonderful partita in the second movement...great invention. very disappointed not to hear you eff and blind when the piano lid crashed down on your fingers at the end.
i've seen you in aberavon market ..... you're 3-4 ft tall....and rather handsome.....you are the spog.

Julian
Thank you for listening and visiting my humble page and saying such engouraging things about this short musical piece. However, I never use bad language as I have a cripling fear of being likened to unsavoury little gimps like and Lee Evans, -reminds me too - I must get some bananas later.

I am not actually a spog Julian though I am related to one through marriage, mind there is a rumor that my antie Gladys once gave birth to a set of spog triplets out of wedlock- not as fantastic as it seems actually as spogs are always born in threes.
