Description
A non-creative phase is upon me, so I've been working on this. My very own variation of a variation. Elgar's "Nimrod", from the wonderful Enigma Variations. I love this piece of music, very much and I've re-voiced it in my own way. I hope not to offend any purists out there, but I am trying to get an albums worth of my favourite classical pieces, done electronica style, so I can give it to anyone who wants!
All made with the Zebra 2 synth.
Thanks for stopping by and listening. :-)

Hi Dave.....
I love listening to Elgar and the other English composers so I enjoyed your rendition of this great piece very much.

Here's looking forward to the other pieces you are mixing.

You've not off-ended me. I enjoy arrangements and this is an enjoyable arrangement.

Take care.

Paul

Whatever works, Dave
and this does. (I could be wrong, but I don't imagine there are many Elgar purists at MJ.) Sometimes, when the creative muse goes on extended leave, it's wise to renew acquaintance with one's (somewhat) lesser muses.

Nimrod
Not sure I've heard Elgar before, but as I enjoyed this I think I'll look more into his works.

Well done!

(impressive mustache too).

Tres belle
And beautiful too :-) Not sure I've heard this one before, but I like a little melody like this and when the performance is this stellar, well, there you've got me...

Let's see if I can try to do something myself now. Just got Logic 9 from App Store ;-)

Thanks and take care,
Henke

I enjoyed your very pleasant work.
I like your concepts. I believe that extreme purists
have less fun and adventure.

beautiful rendition
Oh that fickle muse. If you see her, please send her my way. In the meantime, your little tryst with Elgar's is working out well. As always, your sound choices are perfect and pleasing. What I especially like about this piece is your use of fade, bringing phrases in and out subtly. And the organ peeking out from behind it all is brilliant.

re-worked
The great thing about your re-workings is they always sound fresh and never 'cheesy' or like someone playing it on a casio keyboard.
I can't really see how it would offend any purists...but then they're a funny bunch.
anyway, lovely stuff
cheers

that's great
Really enjoyed that. I can't see anyone being offended by that. I'm sure he would have been composing for synths himself these days. You have really mastered that Zebra synth.

This means I am old but....
I remember when Switched on Back album came out. It was bleeding edge into classical music using latest technology. The purists were pureed. this should not bother anyone. What a great rendition of this. So the Zebra synth is a good board in your opinion?

Enigmatic :-)
I'm an Elgar fan and any exposure of the great man's work to those who are unfamiliar is a good thing. That aside, this is a great rendition, love that hand-bell vibe and the way you build in the brass section.

Nimrod? Wow...
Hi.

Very interesting that you named this song Nimrod an I just came back from a camping trip at Lake Nimrod here in Arkansas.

I've got this great photo I took of the street sign...

Wonder why "Nimrod" became known as a name given to stupid people? Bugs Bunny used it a few times.

Neat song. I know how those non-creative phases go. I've had many of them.

Good work!
