Description
CHIDORIGAHUCHI is a ditch inside Edo castle in Japan.
A part of ruins of a castle are the dwellings of His Majesty the Emperor now.
The moon shadow reflected in the water surface is beautiful.

This chord composition is the same as Minnie Riperton "loving you" and the Larry Carlton "room 335."

Beautiful playing and wonderful tones. Such a spacious mix! I really dig the samba section. Killer synth bass and synth soloing!

Excellent music
which painted no pictures in my mind, certainly not of Edo Castle. But it is a lovely wander through nothing/everything/time/space following your guitar, synth and percussion.

Ripples of moon music
A song written to a ditch that is famous enough to have it's own name written to the chord progression of Loving You... how cool is that. (I think it may be more than a normal ditch.) You capture the moonlight feel, the long glowing shadows, the ripples in the water. Thanks for sharing this.

Soothing, and then, exciting
I was listening to the first half thinking, this is very pleasant and soothing, but I wonder if Tadashi will keep it this way, or raise the energy level? And sure enough, you have that up-tempo section in the middle that is based on the same chord progression, but with a much more "up" tempo and feel. Wonderful song, as always, and I like the way the ending mood shifts back to the mood of the beginning.

You made me interested in learning more about Chidorigahuchi (sometimes spelled: Chidorigafuchi), and I learned that it is the name of the moat surrounding Edo, and that "the Someiyoshino and Yamazakura cherry blossoms of Chidorigafuchi are one of the most popular hanami (blossom viewing) trees. When the trees reach full blossoming they are beautifully lit at night allowing visitors to see another spectacular aspect of the sakura."

This makes me want to visit Japan!

Many people have had ideas....
...about what MacJams really needs. I actually happen to know.

What MacJams needs is a truly excellent and affordable travel agency.

Booking trips for cherry and plum blossom viewing in Japan, or to hear monks chanting, or to relax at Clark's Tuscan villa... Or to relax at Fran's pool fighting off the genetically altered filter frogs and utterly warped kittens.... Or deadly snake viewing with Neil in Australia....

Music, after all, can only take you so far....

Thank you very much!

Chidorigahuchi is a famous place of a cherry tree.
A cherry tree will be in full bloom from the end of March early in April.
Boat play is possible for the moat.

And "Nippon Budokan Hall" is in this the moat.
The Beatles held the concert in 1966.
Many musicians have used it since then.
Moreover, that is also a decisive battle place of all martial art.
Every year, many battle which determines No.1 of Japan is held.

Edo
Went to Japan last Summer and walked around the grounds of the castle. What a fabulous place! Such greenery set in the madness of Tokyo, and so big. What amazed me were the huge koi carp that rise up from the depths of the ditches and stare at you, no doubt waiting for a crumb of something to be thrown to them.

Your music is fantastic, just like Edo. I would have liked to have been listening on my iPod when we were there! Excellent.

I can just hear the echoes...
...of 'Loving You' as the tune goes by....

A very interesting and ear-attracting tone on the lead guitar, and some very neat bass playing in there--done on a bass, or on a synth?

I would certainly love to visit the Edo castle, among other places...

Long ago, I read a book by someone who followed the path of Basho's 'Narrow Road To The Deep North' in recent times. That seemed like a fine thing to do...

Thank you very much!
Donald Lawrence Keene is the great Japanese literature researcher.
He acquired the Japan family register last year.
He is also writing the "Narrow Road to the Deep North" in English.

This really captures the mood you were going for. Outstanding variety of sounds, keys and guitars...really picked up the intensity in the middle section, what a great movement. Bass and drums are killer. Love it!

Outstanding
You have created a lovely musical landscape here, Tadashi. A bit more complex than usual which is just fantastic. The bass work is outstanding and the drums just kick. As always, your guitar work is stellar. Wonderful, rich mix. Fine post. Thank you, Peter.
