Let The Rhythm Take You

Description
Started this a year ago as a kind of jazz-bossa/ambient/easy listening instrumental but thought at the time it needed lyrics (Sade perhaps?) so left it to one side. Finally got around to writing some lyrics last week and recorded and mixed over the weekend. Can't wait to get to the coast again soon.
Thanks for listening
cheers
Phil

Lyrics
Let the rhythm take you – to another time and place
Unwind your mind – relax now - it’s not meant to be a race
It shouldn’t take much effort – come drift away with me
Feel hot sand between your toes - as we run towards the sea
To the sea – just you and me – to the sea

The tide is high - the surf is up – you wonder what’s in store
You duck and dive as you paddle out - then turn to face the shore
You’re feelin small - as you rise and fall – with each wave that rushes by
You contemplate - as you lie in wait – for that moment - for your spirit to fly
Fly so high - your spirits fly – fly so high

You catch that wave - quick - on your feet – then everything feels right
A hedonistic highway – a sensual delight
You’re riding straight - then shift your weight – flick left to flee the crest
Of a blue-green face curling overhead – that’s breaking east to west
East to west – east to west – east to west

A canvass to retain forever – framed in your mind’s eye
The glowing sun arcs lower - across a perfect azure sky
Feel the gentle breeze - caress your skin - and dry your hair
A familiar feeling – déjà vu - there’s something in the air – tonight
Here tonight – tonight – here tonight

A Beach So Far Away
Ahh, this song totally transported me to a tropical beach. I could feel my toes in the sand! Really nice, subtle layering of the tracks. The acoustic guitar stood out but didn't swallow up the subtler, equally beautiful accents. The synthesizer was a nice touch, too.

Let The Rhythm Take You
Nice song with a cool relaxing beat. I would love to hear your vocals in the middle of the mix - as opposed to the far left. enjoyed the tune though - thank you for sharing with us!

Very pretty
and gently relaxing. You do very well substituting for Sade. The lyrics really help to paint a picture matching the mood of the music.

love it
the island and ocean sound in the background and your great-mood singing and guitar playing make me feel I wanna go on vacation. Only one thing to suggest - the vocals and guitar are a bit too separated and panned to opposite sides. Maybe both can be moved a little bit toward the middle to give it a same-room performance effect?

Born and bred in Liverpool and like most kids from that place got my first guitar as a young teenager (in the late 60s). I've been dabbling with a guitar or two ever since and couldn't imagine life without one. I've never had any musical training (pr... [see more]
