Description
This is "Fifty-Four" in my sprawling piano collection titled "By The Numbers." Somehow, this one called out for a more specific title, so "Passages" popped into my mind. This quiet number is scored for piano solo with some added strings and an English horn obligato in a couple of strategic spots. The piano score can be found on my website under Piano Music/By The Numbers (http://www.paulpage.org). It's free to download, as is all the rest of my music.

Beautiful Paul
as usual, and, as usual, I have a new addition to my PFP playlist, thank you. I have to assume, listening to this, that you are at complete peace with yourself and your world. Congratulations; you are truly blessed.

well good morning Paul
... and it really is after a quiet moment listening to this wonderful track. You know ... I suppose i use that "w" word a lot when commenting about your work but it is so appropriate. This one is so "full of wonder" and hope. You are a gift to the soul and ears my friend. As always... thanks so much for the download. Blessings Paul.

Hi Paul....
This is a lovely piece of music. My first impression had 'furtive' as in secret, come to mind. Passages seems very appropriate for the way this plays out.

A moment in a movie, two people that should meet never quite cross paths, both moving into their own worlds. Only the viewer knew what could have been or should have been.

The gentle orchestration intertwines with the piano so well.

Take care.

Paul

An appropriate title for a this calm and relaxing journey into the artists mind. The horn adds that cinematic feel to it, like remembering some film or memory from the past that has a warm feel to it. Subtle and simplistic yet fills the heart with yearning. Well done!

Always a treat =)

Getting late here
and this is just a perfect end to the day.

In my mind I'll be able to play piano one day ;-)

As always, very nicely judged orchestration. The English horn works really well. Just a touch of melancholia that resolves.

Thanks for sharing Paul.

Cheers

Dick

A fantastic musical offering...
Hi Paul. Wonderful sense of space around the piano. Beautiful light touch and a soothing melody that had my blood pressure dropping by the minute. The strings and English horn sit just perfectly floating light as a feather. This is a fantastic musical offering. Thanks for the download. Take care, Peter.

Beautifully warm and gentle. I love your timing in this - pauses are used perfectly. It is beautifully melodic, but has some lovely touches that stretch the ears a little. The orchestration is outstanding. Downloaded to be continually enjoyed!

Maestro PFP
The opening is quite lovely and pleasant in a kind of Burt Bacharach-ish way, but I was waiting to see where you would take it, because I like to think I know Paul F. Page music, and you like to toss in the unexpected with the expected (as do all the great composers) ... You did not disappoint… a number of times you deviated from what I was expecting, always in a good way, never detracting from the overall calm and beauty of this wonderful composition. Bravo to a true maestro of the craft! Like the EHn obligato too.

Very nice! Could have been improved by some bludgeoning heavy metal guitar about half way through, but other than that, utterly transcendental.

Very enjoyable, Paul...
Though it may seem an odd way to phrase it, I think your music has great 'patience'. It unfolds at its own pace, and includes no unnecessary element or clutter. Reminds me of the "Zen of grandparents"--always and effortlessly moving at the right pace...

is this Paul..... the picture matches the music perfectly. You don't need me or anyone else to tell you how enjoyable your music is.... it just stands out a mile..... lovely keys and orchestration; the cor anglais is perfect for this...... to another time
Your music often takes me on journeys... and this one does too, tugging at my sails until I drift away from the shores of gritty reality, and I let go of the rope, lean back, and drift out onto the calm waters of the keys. There's one delightful hint of a dark disturbance under the surface at 4:29, but Nessie subsides and all is peaceful again. Always a delight to sail out with you, Paul!

Song 54 where are you?
Your deft touch, as usual, is such a pleasure to hear.

It can be difficult, at times, to attach the correct word that sums up .. let alone perfectly defines .. a piece of music.

However, this piece certainly adds up to something more than just music by the numbers.

End of a lovely day
I thought this was starting out as a variant of "the Young and the Restless" theme :) Paul this is gorgeous - soft and gently lyrical like the sunset clouds in your artwork. Your understated string accompaniment lets the piano shine though, and judicious use of the Cor Anglais adds golden highlights to the painting in flecks here and there.

That a person can create one piece like this is remarkable. To have created a series of them, all of quality and connected emotion is nearly unbelievable. (Do you really have a horde of indentured composers in a warehouse behind your house turning out these lovely works??)

Such gifts!

Thank you Paul,
Doug
