Description
This is a song I wrote for my Dad, Rev. Eldridge Gittens, who left this earth 04/01/2001. The song came to me in the 2 months I spent by his side before he passed. I tried to sing it at his funeral but.....well.... I was a bit overwhelmed....I was lucky enough to acquire a recording of one of his sermons and the 2 samples I used fit the piece so well. "nuff said"....

just an FYI....the lil' guy in the pic is me at around 4 yrs old....lol

Lyrics
Don't cry for me....
I'm headed to a far much better place.
One day you'll get there too....

If you could see what I can see....
Loved ones found....
Old friends at the Pearly Gates.
You'd smile for me....

Dad....
You're leaving today.
But it's ok....
I know you'll be just fine.
Dad....
You know you're leaving today.
But it's ok....
I know you'll be just fine.

I'm just leaving for a little while....
But you know we'll see....
each other one day.
Got a message from God on high....
(he said)
Got a Church up here....
....can you preach on next Sunday?

It's ok....
to say goodbye....
....and have the good memories....
Live on inside ya
In your dreams....
All my hopes and my prayers....
....will always be there to guide ya....

I know you love me....
I know you care.
I promise you that I'm not far.....
And I'll see you all when you get here...

Dad....
You're leaving today.
But it's ok....
I know you'll be just fine.
Dad....
You know you're leaving today.
But it's ok....
I know you'll be just fine.

Great tribute

This is a great song for the Reverend Gittens.

Mine, also a pastor, missionary in Brazil for 38 years, passed almost a year before Rev. Gittens. Dad would have loved this song, too.

Thanks for the memory.
