Description
Hello. My name is Richard.I spent all of last year teaching piano and living in a tent to save money to pay off debts then gambled it all away on the internet and ended up in more debt, but NOW I feel like I may have reached a turning point.I've finally paid alot of it off.I can't lie and tell you that part of paying it off was down to gambling either..kids - don't do it.or drinking or smoking or any of those other things on that long list of things people tell you not to do.Of course.

Anyway - after failing miserably this week at trying to come up with a guitar part for a Hemby and Wigzell tune,I finally plugged in the speakers and tried to get this tune down i've had going around in my head for a few weeks now.I don't know what it is but it sort of makes me feel a sense of relief.I'm playing everything wrong of course cos as I said to J and A i'm not really a guitar player - sort of a wannabe frank zappa - hahahaha.

so here it is warts and all - i tries out an oberheim plugin for the synth, its old retro akai sampled drum sounds and the guitar I'm playing - is RED.

I thought it would make a change to put something out there or here that is totally unfinished - barely started infact, and just see if I can handle it cos its quite easy to get to stage where you think everything has to be polished and i was never into that.Thank you

Good to hear from you...
Nice atmospheric song. I like your guitar playing... a lot of expression in simple lines. I'm a fan of unfinished pieces... an immediacy or something that is inviting. Thanks, Richard.

This is rich. And red.... I won't claim that we had anything to do with this because this is all you. So good to hear this. Love the deep tones and the music flowing out of your guitar. The other song will miss you! But glad you put this up and out!

Hey there Paddler - welcome back - great to see you putting some music up. This is very cool, and your guitar playing fits the tune perfectly. This has a dreamy, flowing through the hazy sunshine feel, and it is really fun to listen to - I enjoyed it - thanks!

Dontcha just think that warts add character?
I'm pretty sure you hear more warts than I do, not that I hear ANY: this all sounds wonderful, dreamy, melodic, warm, positive, friendly and it reminds me that I've missed you and your music as well. Nice one Richard, seriously.

Warts
I like the guitar tone, the melody lines, the gentle groove it sits in. If you do this when you're just starting something, I'm looking forward to the finished product - it will be stellar! I like this version a lot.

Felt Deeply My Friend!
This can only be born from the fetters of lifes vicissitudes. Your straightforward honesty is evident in this a marvelously produced piece of what I call 'FEEL'. Get Down my man. Take us there. Yeah! Love your revelation! Thank you!

Great ...

Thank you also for your good advices! Hope your example will help others not to try it. In that case your hard experiences will have been for some goo use after all!

I have really missed you

Been a while pal . . .
Good to see you again. You have a great sound bed here. I would think a couple of days practicing scales would have your guitar work a little sharper. The sound and atmosphere are all working to create the mood. MAKE MUSIC, NOT DEBT!

Glad you're back, Richard...
I like this sort of thing. I like the rough hewn flavor and the wandering guitar line...

It just sounds neat...

Paddler
That is quite a story, regarding how you spent your summer vacation camping up in Cumbria. I was there in 1992, after touring to London, visiting a now passed shirt-tail relative. Beautiful country, and really nice people.

I am a miserable gambler. Whenever I have a 50/50 shot at something, I pick the wrong thing 80% of the time. Luckily, my obsessions are one side of a coin that has enabled me to embrace and complete certain projects, but they have ruined other aspects of my life in the past and kept me humble (yes, I hear some of you laughing at that). Humility is a difficult thing to achieve. Your gambling hasn't been entirely wasted. I hope you can continue to keep it in check. I really appreciate you sharing your experience. And you music. Thanks.

Guitar
As the title of Frank Zappa's solo guitar album says: "Shut up and play your guitar"
Well played, sometimes all that production polishing rubs off the raw power of the solo.
Thanks.

Hello again
good to see a post from you Richard. Unexpected - I'm not sure I've heard too much lead guitar from you but you carry it off very well.

I hope you are getting back on an even keel.

Cheers

Dick

Sorry I'm so late to this - lovely atmospheric piece that also proves what a totally talented musician you are.
Hope you are well and got the gambling sorted out, or at least won big!
