Interlude At Peace.

Description
Something for a few peaceful moments during a movie, and maybe when the credits run. Putting this together was a battle against the rather inadequate GarageBand orchestral instruments. To be clear I'm fairly happy with the music (though the bassoon track will be tweaked at some point) but I know this could sound a lot better with better instruments. I know the Orchestral Jam Pack would fix this but at the moment I can't afford the DVD version and since I'm still on a PowerMac I don't have access to the App Store. Sometime I'll have better instruments to play around with, but for now these are it. Any tips on how to make the existing instruments sound better without spending money would be most welcome.

Yes my friend, your coloring here is wonderful..some new toyz may give extra motivations, but, the paintbrush is in your hands, capable hands...your canvas here is most delightful, colorful, and full of Big Smiles...:):):)peace

Thanks for the encouragement.
Yeah, to be clear I altered the text; although I know this could sound better with better instruments (and maybe with more knowledge) I am fairly happy with the tune. If it sounded really bad to me I wouldn't post it...

Interlude At Peace
A well written piece. Your melodic ideas and use of subtle counter point shine through. The quality of the instruments doesn't detract at all from the musical content. I like the bassoon and cello sounds.

Thank you!
That cello is known as the Fitch Cello; a free add-on instrument for GarageBand and a very fine one. If you keep within a certain range (smaller than a real cello) it does indeed sound very good. Thanks for hearing the music through the confusion!

Another fine soundtrack.
You're right, with better software or real instruments this would be much more impressive. But you can hear what's intended. There's an app called Mainstage which features ALL of the GB jamtracks, and it's only£21 (about $30) A real bargain when you're ready to upgrade.

Mainstage not an option sadly.
You have to have an Intel Mac to access the app store, and I'm still on a PowerMac G5 Quad. However I'm encouraged by the comments; if my music is getting through to people that's what matters most. Thanks for letting me know that.

Fire Angel
Good balance of all instruments. I think this is a well put together soundtrack. Good use of loops and keys of music. You have a natural ear.

It is
a gift. Kind of a magical thing to have an orchestra at your fingertips, isn't it? There seems to be a bit of melancholy or reminiscence here. I was imagining a young man paging through a photo album, seeing pictures of the people and country his parents left behind when they emigrated. Or, perhaps, it is an old man..once again touching the face of his long lost love. Keep up your composing. You are immensely entertaining. Thanks.

Living in London, England, and I love the place. I have masses of energy and tons of interests, far too many to list here, even if I restricted myself to my musical tastes. Grew up in a small town, knew nothing much till I left and came to Lond... [see more]
