Hi Vic!
Thanks for the encouragement. The filtered guitar sound is from a Pod3 pre-set on the right channel. On the left side I used the envelopes in the Logic pedal board. The whole track is very dry. The only reverb is from the mastering. The Pacifica 1230 I used on the lead is another reason for the unique tone. You did ask, lol.

I love the way you stretch the head apart then bring it back together again, only to repeat the process! A bit "end of the world" as the instruments fight it out - but a magnificent musical journey.

Hello Philip
No violence, all the instruments are working in harmony to create the robust and bright textures you would expect on a postcard from an exotic location. Your comment about the arrangement is dead on, that "stretching effect" is something I use a lot, just a bit different from what is the norm. There is poly-tonality or, what might be termed "near tonality", then, if you listen to the Bones there appears to be atonality, this is illusion. The Bone part is a series of pitches built on major and minor thirds, which have an interesting relationship with the model conception of the piece. The same effect is present in the organ figures after the gong sounds and before the "whistle".
Thanks for listening... hope that helps.

Erin in the house!
Hello partner. Tonalgraphic bass is what ya get here. As the harmony spins out the comfort zone, you always have "1" pounding the tonal center, like the little voice in your head, the one that might tell ya right or wrong, in the face of conflicting evidence.
I always appreciate the artists that come by... thanks for your continued support.

Gripping

I even lit two cigarettes by accident.. Seriously

Can't hardly wait until everyone wakes up so I can crank this on the stereo.

It's like a machine, moving right along. Reminds me of The 5th Element, but not sure exactly why.

Anyway, good one!

Harold!
Be careful! I don't know what the fifth element is... In the future I will put out a disclaimer. Come to think of it, I did once, I knew "The Little Blue Dog" would be dangerous to listen too... lol. This is just a postcard from the edge... should be safe, maybe a bit off the edge?

Hello Andy...
No synth voicing on this mess Bro. The line-up was analog bass, and guitars, B-3 VST, Addictive drums VST, and Kick Ass Brass VST. Data input was done on the oxygen keyboard and with an Akai MPD18 on the drums. Of course the key entries were penciled, 'cos I am a terrible keyboard player, but my ears are way past the edge, lol. Thanks for stopping by...

Yes, yes... fun...
Thanks for coming by my mysterious friend. Sorry about those feet, imagine parts two and four not separated by that funky, hand clapping groove... the white bread music people would have really been afraid. Hell, Harold, who listens to my stuff all the time, and... for years, he nearly burned his house down this morning because of this thing. I will put harsher warning labels on my stuff, from now on-safety first!
It was a little fun... lol.

That heavy bass anchors everything, guitars and keys are the bad boys being let out to play. Brass sounds provide a really nice flavor as does the wah guitar.

Hey Dave!
I appreciate your support. Yer notion I am stretching out the guitars and organ over the groove is dead on. Reliance on loopy solo passages offends my ears, how 'bout you?
Why is the brass flavor cool? The last section has two parts. Bass is in solo mode. There, horns and organ supply the tonic information listeners need to understand the composition, so bass is free to play in a more expressive style. The "outside" harmony in the trombone line over the fixed response of the rest of horn section is an "expansive" effect. The trumpet, alto and barrie sax supply voice leading during the build at the end... previously they held a Bb tonic while the bones ascended a pattern of major and minor thirds built on the dorian pitch of the tonic. The idea is "Postcard's" build section can be repeated, in live performance, by simply ascending the related whole tone scale, until Stan runs down the road in his shorts screaming... which is what it's all about anyway...lol.

Run down the road in yer shorts screaming? Great to hear I've achieved results! Now, of course, have to top myself next time out... lol.
...will put strong warnings on my stuff in the future- Harold fired up two smokes... yer screaming, in yer shorts liberating everyone on yer street... we used to just say, "That records got a good buzz."
