Lyrics
I got the key to the highway, filled out I'm bound to go
Gonna leave here running because walking is most too slow

I'm going back, back to the border, where I'm better known
Because you ain't done nothing except drive a good man from his home

So give me one, one more kiss, before I go
When I leave this time I ain[t coming back no more

Sure as the moon keeps on shining, I'll be on my way
I'm gonna roam these highways until the break of day

I woke up this morning, looked around for my shoes
It didn't take me very long before I was singing those old highway blues

I've been in trouble all my life, it just follows me around
I won't take me no airplane it woud just fall to the ground

Okay!
A very fine drummer here in town, Curly Martin, told me the blues should always be in B-flat. I don't know if that is true, and I don't care at the moment, 'cuz this is the real McCoy if I ever heard it Tom. All topnotch and loved the that solo. I need to get to bed soon but I'm gonna pull this up tomorrow when I get home from work and play along with you!! Thanks for ending my night with some good sounds echoing around in my head! Take care now and good hearing you again, Michael

Very good!
Thanks Michael! I think the key for blues (or any music really) depends on whether you are a piano/horn player or a guitar player. Just the way they set up for each instrument for ease of play. Guitar players like the keys of E, A, G, D and piano/horn is F, Bb, C. Of course you can find many exceptions. The world of music is large and creative. I still equate the blues with sitting around funky old houses in Baton Rouge or the surrounding countryside and listening to the originals. Too many to list but Muddy Waters was probably my favorite. Have a good sleep and record something tomorrow.

A classic! Your lead work harkens back to Muddy and Hubert! Strong vocal! I feel your pain!

Muddy Forever
Yeah, Muddy and Hubert and Howling Wolf and Jimmy Reed. Good stuff from my 20's. Some people say everything I do is blues but 12 bar or variations thereof is the real thing. My other stuff is blues influenced but also folk, jazz, rock, etc. But classic rock of the 60's was so blues based that it really was just the blues at a faster tempo with weird lyrics, hahahah!

Way to go
Tom, love how you write and sing and the playing is fun too!
Nice the way you structure the words to really fit the blues feel.
Nice lead and like the way the piano bounces along.
Like that bronco style!

Stylin
Thanks Bill! I guess I do have my own style largely deriving from the fact that I was never talented enough to imitate anyone else, although lord knows I tried.

Nothing fancy here, Tom, just some straight ahead authentic early blues. Good take on a classic. Enjoyed the listen. Thanks, Peter.

What can I say? Took a lot of road trips in my life. Somehow survived them and here I am.

On the Road Again
Jack thanks for listening. As mentioned above though, at the moment it is a cup of gumbo and not tea. Although I occasionally indulge in a cup of tea, I usually like my Luzianne in a nice tall glass with some ice. and perhaps a touch of lime. The download means a lot - again thanks!

Authentic
I liked the sound of these authentic blues from the get-go, played straight from the heart from the beginning to the end. It's always nice to hear one of your original embodiments of the blues matrix.

I don't consider myself a bluesman, but (as you note) all rock is blues-based, so it infuses most everything I do in some way or another.

Authentic
Thanks Warren! Sometimes I think I play the blues in my sleep. As Bob Dylan said, "It's a restless, hungry feeling".
