Description
This song was the first song I posted here and the first song I'd written for many many years. Also it was my first time playing a keyboard with the synths.
I wanted a kind of surrealistic dream like sound, which i think I achieved here. I always liked the song and at one point a few years ago i tried to redo it, but those falsetto high notes eluded me at that point. The fact that my voice is placed in the centre (it seems) is that i wanted it to feel or sound as though I was in the middle of a dreamlike landscape chugging around in my little boat. Well I hope you like it now I took it through Ozone and made it a little longer than the original, making it sound more complete.

Lyrics
Places that I go to while layin' in my bed
Have fields so warm and golden, with sunsets Oh, so red,
But there's always someone, I am lookin for,
Someone to make it perfect and it's you,
You could make it so.

Places that I sail to, while driftin' in my mind
Are more beautiful than places, anywhere you'd find.
But though I'm searchin, over hill and dale.
You're not there my special Angel.
You're here, inside my heart,

Places that I sail to, while driftin' in my mind
Are more beautiful than places, anywhere you'd find.
But though I'm searchin, over hill and dale.
You're not there my special Angel.
You're here, inside my heart,

Oo-oo-ooh! In my heart,... In my heart.... in my heart..... In my heart.

Places That I go to
A song of many firsts! I love when people share how they've grown musically. There's a bit of a Bowie thing happening here in your vocal, particularly in the falsetto. Sweet lyrics. I would have turned up the vocal a bit. I think you're being modest hiding it a bit behind those breathy synths.

I forgot
to mention too Andrew, that it was the first time in many many years that I'd sung at all, but regarding the lowness of the vocal here; it was my first attempt at everything, so wasn't 'on top' of my recording skills. I would have liked it a little more forward, but for the dreamy feel I just about get away with it. As I said above, I did try to redo it but failed miserably in the falsetto department LOL.... thank you though for calling in on this one, cheers M

Dreamy
Beautiful song Maurice, to me the falsetto parts sounded like it worked very nicely. Great vocals and the instrumentation and feel, the flute-like synth gives this dreamy feel.

Very nice work, I greatly enjoyed. Cheers

You certainly get that dreamlike effect from the synth sounds you've chosen. Fluid rhythm. relaxed vocal and warm lyrics. Good one, Maurice!

Smooth work Maurice
I think you captured the dreamy feel perfectly.

No idea how you got to some of those notes. I'd be screeching by that time!

Nicely done.

Places that I go
Hi Maurice. Your vocals on this definitely have the dreamy quality you were searching for. The falsetto notes are fantastic. The lyrics further the dream imagery. I must admit that, to me, the dominant synth seems to be a bit at odds with the mood you are trying to establish. I find it a bit too harsh and prominent to dream to. Good to hear your earlier work, though. Thanks, Peter.

Thanks
for dropping in to listen Peter, but I'm sorry my little dreamboat engine kept you from dozing off. That was my intended imagery as if laying in bed sort of daydreaming, while my mind is chugging around the visual cortex in a little boat, searching for someone..... mad isn't it ? LOL, cheers M

I'm amazed!
I now hear you playing synths, you manage to come up with something different with every post Maurice and they are some very high notes you are singing, how do you do it.
Another fine song!

Well Bob.
This was the very first song I'd written in many many years as I said above and I hadn't sung for donkeys years and NEVER played a keyboard until I did this. I can still sing along with this even the highs, but when I tried to re-record it didn't sound like this version LOL, so I give up on that. It's a 'one-off', regards M
