Lyrics
Sitting in the same seat in Starbucks that I sat in in January
It was much colder then, everything was frozen
the sun was much farther behind

Yeah I was thinking about how you always changed the sheets
Yeah how you always changed the sheets

Thinking of you driving east in a dress,
how the bubble is carried by the wind and how the wind is us
So much greener now, everything has blossomed
A rush of cold air surrounds the oyster bar near the paddock
Lots of skinny legs in shorts

I take a couple pictures of the plane
There's something different on my face
The sun's now on the horizon
And a tail wind will carry me west
I will race the sun

240 miles from Chicago,
running 15 minutes early,
over the great lakes
An island shaped like an elephant
engines powering down
One large stack from a power plant
makes a small mark on the atmosphere,
And the clouds fall off to the south

While putting on my scented oil I spill it
Now I am sure the rest of the plane knows my story too
They know my desire they know my place
They know just how I undressed her

Engines off ....we float,
dropping slowly back to earth
The only straight lines below are made by us
in our desire to get to where we are going,
giving us away
I laugh just a little, knowing that
our path is our own
My ears pop
I am coming home

Nice T.
I just like the stories you tell. Of course, the sound is better with each recording, but your poetry is what keeps me coming back.
Great soundscape. Nice work.

Light and shade
Quite a reflective piece here, Tim. I like the mood that you develop, the light and shade and the wonderful palette of acoustic and electric colours that you use to give the song its colour. The lyrics tell a compelling story and the imagery is strong. Another fine post. Regards, Peter.

Heading home
Clean sheets: always a good thing .. and certainly worth celebrating in song. It's a surprising image, but not surprising to find in one of your songs, given your awareness of earthy detail. This is one of the elements I have always admired in your songwriting - how you use everyday objects to project broad implications about life.

You continue to explore the layering of voices in the soundtrack (which also imparts a multiplicity of meanings). I think those harmonies work particularly well here when set behind the simple, straightforward voice of the narrator.

I recently made this same trip back home to the Midwest and, except for the scented oil, it could've be me you're describing. What I spilled was a soda : )

The poetry alone deserves repeated listens. The accompaniment is equally interesting and creative.

This is great!
Great story telling song, greatly performed, with a heart and a soul behind it. Love the lyrics. Love the Dylan'ish vocals + the raw guitar making it yours. This is a great listening!!! Thank you!

Something differnt
Nice opening. Allows the listener to take a deep breath in anticipation of what's to come. Light but slightly world-weary vocal works well. Good talking-singing style in the singer-songwriter style - maybe some Dylan influence there? I like the guitars (although maybe I've have used a cleaner sound on the solo?) Much enjoyed.

Seemingly
effortless poetry full of meaning. Seemingly effortless delivery, too. The music moves it along like a well oiled train. Cool.

right off i liked the dynamics of this song--the build up and release, adds suspense, then a moment to catch your breath. as previously stated, the lyrics are just as strong as the song itself.

THE KING
I love the timber of Tim's voice. I have used his songs in my short films and I am sure I will want to use another and another. He creates such a great picture through his music. I can see a film in this song. Another great job, Tim. You know I am a forever fan, bro. Keep them coming. Thanks for the DL.

Laid back
Loving those backing vocals and that languid musical accompaniment. Great words and phrasing man. There are some really swell swells.... The drums here are marvellous. A great piece to be really proud of.

Compelling story and imagery in the lyric. Guitar line in the upper register is a nice flavor, and is deftly interwoven with the acoustic.

I love
the soundbed in this one...the marching drums, and the instrumental swells. While I like what you've done with it in terms of speak-singing and everyday language, I'd love to see you try to craft a catchy vocal melody for this. Just to see what happens, you know? This track has lovely dynamics.
