Bill Cheatham/Cherokee Shuffle

This Song Temporarily Offline
I bought a new (old guitar- A 1955 Gibson LG-3. Trying it out here. It plays like butter and records well, I think.

Playing two traditional fiddle tunes here; both in the key of A--Bill Cheatham and Cherokee Shuffle.

New old guitar
That guitar looks to be in beautiful condition, John, and is certainly playing well. Assuming it's what comes in at around 1:15 it does indeed record well - a beautifully mellow tone but still with the brightness you want. Nice sound when playing chords, too. Of course, your playing is sweet and clean - a joy to listen to!

Very nice indeed
Great pick up, John. Very nice indeed. Just as nice as the fiddle tunes. You do a great job with the rhythm guitar, the mandolin and the lead. Sounds like it records just fine. We will hear more of this one, I'm sure. Kindest regards, Peter.

I think that what
impresses me most about you playing two traditional fiddle tunes on this delightful old
girl is that you managed to get it up on your shoulder and under your chin..........okay,okay I'll stop it now......really nice playing of two super sounding tunes ....now I gotta find my Bluegrass Mandolin tutor and look these two tunes up.....

Cheers now

i base my 'good sound/bad sound' judgement on how well the sound brings to mind the string. that's probably strange. but i can feel the strings here, it's a fat, warm sound and I like it a lot. i'm still looking for that perfect acoustic guitar. hampered a bit by the fact that i want to find it in a pawn shop or a garage sale...

Wow. Lucky you...
The guitar sounds very nice, very much the sort of recorded guitar tone that I like. Just enough warmth, but no boom, and nice spangly treble off the strings. You can really hear that bit of metal just right...

Good playing, too. This sounds sort of 'authentically great' on my headphones. Nothing hyped, just the sound of a good guitar played well.

Hope it serves you well for a long, long time...

Cherokee Shuffle
I don't know how I missed this ... what a beautiful guitar!!! I would die for it. Does it have a large body or small? It sounds quite fat when it comes in. Superb playing ... I wanted to hear more.
Lucky you!

I've been singing and playing since the age of fourteen when my brother Paul was working his way through the Beatle book and needed someone to play with. From Paul I learned to fingerpick, play barre chords, and to sing the melody while he sang harmo... [see more]
