Howlin' Demons

This Song Temporarily Offline
Description
Started as an acoustic bluesy tune and it grew from there. I used my acoustic/electric godin and some midi organ and horns ... nothin's ever easy

really lovely warm guitar tones and a cool vibe going on. nice drive level. the quality vocals add an extra dimension. orchestration/ accompaniment works really well. great restrained energy. wanted to hear a short but explosive guitar break. very well done stuff. enjoyed it. cheers graham

Thanks...
for listening ... yeah I generally would have ripped a solo but I tried to simplify my approach ... I also wanted to do a harp break but didn't have the key... thanks again for your comments and feedback.
Cheers

The first notes got me! You make a guitar stand up and talk, Stan! You get a live band sound from the instruments that make up the total sound. Good lyrics and strong vocal performance with lots of light and shade. I will add this to my Stan Gadziola collection - and thank for that! And as usual, the art work is equally impressive.

Thanks!
Thanks Philip. That's great that you get that "live band" feel. I play part time with a trio, drums and bass and no matter how many recordings I do there is nothing like the magic of live playing.
Cheers

Started acoustic and grew....
had a little noodle along on he old keyboard...took me a while to get the key ! But all black notes is fun....that's if I got it right of course...I love this particular pulsing riff in the background ....is it a Texas shuffle, has alaid back SRV vibe to it ,smashing....d/load.....

Cheers Jarvo

PS the painting looks like a Daliesque Hieronymous Bosch....and that is a collab !!

Nothin' like a good noodle
Yeah, the key is strange the way it happened ... started playing my godin to a click track recording the groove and when I went to add a bass track I realized my guitar was tuned a semi tone down to Eb ... so I just went with it . I guess I could have pitch changed it but I don't like doing that. The biggest drag for me is I didn't have an Ab harp to play and I really wanted to blow some harp on this ... oh well.
Thanks for dropping by.

Hi Sammy...
I got this old mic pre-amp with 2 tubes in it and I tried using it in this piece with just my old Sure58 and didn't go crazy with effects on the vocals ... reverb at about 15 and a touch of echo but overall kept them dryer and more out front than usual. I also tried not to go overboard with washes of harmonies and falsetto ... Thanks Sammy!
Cheers

Man, you have some skills, brother. Meaty, soulful guitar and singing. Love the jazzy octaves
on the guitar. Wow, love where you take the vocal. This feels so much like a real band, locked in and grooving. An all-around pro production.

" nothin's ever easy" but you make it sound effortless. Love the Robben Ford jazzy smoothness in the changes and vocal melody. Performance! Production! Mix! All there!

Straight Blues My Man! Sing it!
Yeah! Stan take it to the low baby! Sounds Live to me baby! Like I'm at the 'Lime Light" a club that is a legend in Michigan for it's blues, fights and sometimes killings. For real. A Production so real and felt it hits home baby. Sing it Gad. Just a musical masterpiece here my friend!

A little itch?
I'm sitting here tapping away, Stan. Cool groove. Liking the organ and low horns a lot. Like the mix, too. The vocals are probably some of your best. Your subdued guitar persona must have felt a little itch to break out though :-) Thanks, Peter.

I like the acoustic/electric flavor. The driving shuffle groove keeps things moving. The runs & bluesy inflections in the vocal work well.

Nice work.
Very smooth blues and nice mix. Can hear all notes crystal clear.
Solo work is great, the clean - and spunky guitar cuts it. Nicely balanced with other instruments 'breathing' in harmony.
