Lyrics
Yea they cut the rows of trees down in my back yard last night
Didn’t like what the summer had left
And I have a clear view west now
Maybe that’s the concession
Maybe that’s the concession

Yea the leaves they dried up and they take flight
And they blow across the wind
You can take it all you want
And you can take it anywhere you want to be now baby
You don’t have to wait till I see

Hell everybody got their something’s
Liberty has jumped off the tree
And my rough spots are poking me almost everywhere
And I miss you Minnie

You change the weather with the way you look
That dusty road I find
And that moon that sometimes says something to me
In the land of the cactus brine
And when I look west
And when I see your best
And when I say ive never known

Yea the leaves they dried up and they take flight
And they blow across the wind
You can take it all you want
And you can take it anywhere you want to be now baby
You don’t have to wait till I see

Look around in the morning
You can see me in the kitchen with my tea
You can see what I wrote
And left for you there
You can see what you mean to me
Oh I miss you Minnie
I need you now
I walk these roads
I make it some how
But know that I need
And I want what I need
And everybody says
One, two , three

So baby you know where you are going
And hell ya, you know where you have been
And you choose what you choose on down the line
And everybody says hay hay

Dry leaves
You build the backing well. Rich vocal style that's got the right amount of feeling for the lyrics. Fuzzy, gritty guitar works well with the lyrics and vocal delivery. Powerful work!

Strong post
Quality lyrics (as always) and the grizzled vocal give this the loose feel you were looking for. The "sloppy" backing gives it a Dylanesque vibe (a la Everybody Must Get Stoned...). Another strong post. Take care, Peter.

Great vibe...
Love the loose feel of this one! The acoustic and electric mesh well. The electric tone has a Grant Lee Buffalo feel to it (if anyone knows the reference...but still).

I just watched your you tube video holding sunshine ... I am a fan. You are like a Neil Young or Great Lake Swimmers but original in your own way and style. I like the looseness about this. Are you playing the drums with brushes or are they loops. Like when the electric comes in. Good lyrics and your unique vocals work well. Enjoyed!

very cool
Reminds me of Bob Dylan. Really well put together, digging the lyrics on first listen. I think its great you've got a drum set to mic up!! Someday I want one too! So much more organic than programming drums. The mix worked well. Id take a little high end out of the hats maybe to get a darker sound. Thanks for sharing!

I too hear the Dylan vibe here. But there's also a bit of the Stones doing country as well. It's as if The Stones were backing Dylan.

The line "And you can take it anywhere you want to be now baby" is sung as if Jagger steps to the mic. In fact there are several lines phrased like Mick might phrase them.

I second
the comparison to the Great Lake Swimmers. This is delightfully pastoral, and your raspy, conversational style works really well. Reminds me a bit of Randy Bachman. Solid lyrics, too.

I like the attitude in the vocs, I hear both some Dylan & Jagger in there. The lyric paints desolation really well.

Great classic sound
Man,

That really reminds me of Dylan and the 60s - you have a great voice and write good meaningful lyrics.

Great writing. Love the authentic delivery. A Neil Young kind of perfection. Really nice. I love the use of metaphor imagery and true storytelling.

It is as if Bob Dylan,
Neil Young and Mick Jagger's band (I forget their name.) had a jam session. But, mostly, I am reminded of Dylan. It works.
