music on the radio
is specifically designed to be liked
by the human brain
using techniques not noticed by the human mind
and you'll find that every song is of similar design
the harmony and repetition leaving you blind

you'll notice every note, every riff of every kind
it all fits together and every single line of melody
no matter how complex it sounds, can be broken down
and sung over these four chords used all the time

the only thing they change is the key
maybe the scale,
the timing is all similar
that's why you'll never fail
to feel the song, feel like singing along
the bass and the treble
at that sweet spot

so dance with me right here
i'm predicting the next five years
it's all like this
it's all like daaance
with me right here
it gets pumped into your ears
it's all like this

goddammit!

your brain gets confused
and addicted to the percussion
you're loving every second
that you can predict
this music, it's designed for you
but not you specifically;
your kind of mindset
the use of vowels and consonants
plays with your opinion
and every single metaphor
becomes the ultimate meaning
to your life
and you find yourself listening twice
listening everyday
thinking this one song has it right

a slow part
to show i care
and that i know
how you feel
and i've been there
i've been there...
harmony, arpeggio,
faster words begin to slow
exactly how to you feel
i know...

baby if i could i would
but i can't sing high notes anymore
i'm talking... low...

and slowly i will trail off
making sure to make sure to
hit that one.. last.. soft note...

Ouch! That's frighteningly close to the truth! Energetic delivery makes for compelling music - I like this a lot!

Only the next 5?
Awesome, hilarious, excellent lyric. I am CERTAIN when you perform this live, you must insert a dozen non-sequitur quotes "Baby," "Love Story," etc, etc, etc. This must be a crowd favorite. The detuned guitar makes me cringe and laugh, but I'd love to hear a crisper vocal - it starts a little mushy, perhaps on purpose, but I'm reading the lyric while I listen.

I really want to cover this live - I've done something similar using the song "Those Magic Changes" from Grease as my starting point, but this is a really cool take on the idea. Great writing!

Thanks!
I'm thinking of doing this live with my Hard Rock band, if I do it will be recorded.

Definitely would throw in some typical overbeaten words and phrases. I'm happy for you to cover it.
