Description
This song come out of a "spring break" vacation to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas (yes, the story - such as it is - is based on actual events).

I stuck it in the Reggae category by default. What I really wanted was a genre titled "Island."

Lyrics
THE ELEUTHERA WAY

Mojitos at Kokodimama
Barry Cuda jamming on piano
A tangerine sun sinks into Alabaster Bay
It’s okay
Yes it’s okay

Shimmering blue Caribbean water
We gassed up the car in Governor’s Harbour
Driving up and down the Queen’s Highway
It’s okay
It’s okay
It’s okay
It’s okay
The Eleuthera Way

Let the sun in its golden brilliance
Melt your troubles like they are made of wax
It’s okay to hold on to your resilience
But now the time has come to relax

Bending down to pick up sea glass
An Atlantic wave knocked me on my ass
Never turn your back to the salty sea spray
But it’s okay
It’s okay
It’s okay
It’s okay
It’s the Eleuthera Way

Island Music
A new category! Excellent! Relaxed feel to the backing. Happy lyrics and a happy tune delivered in laid back, holiday style. All good!

The next island over
Jamaica (Reggae) was the closest thing I could find .. because there wasn't a Cuban or Puerto Rican category : )

"vacation music"?
Fun tune. The instrumental backing is a tad sketchy, but it's more about the lyrics anyway, right?

The Eleuthera Way
Oh yeah! It's getting near time for another vacation. The electric piano backing gives this an innocent and relaxed feel that completely fits the mood of the lyrics. Charming!

Travel-driven music
It's a wonderful thing when a vacation generates new music .. like your recent trip to New Orleans did for you.

Thanks for listening
I think one of the reasons we make music is to express the intangible. Hopefully .. with a certain amount of charm : )

Influence
When we were there .. they kept running out of mint to make the mojitos.

Strong English influence on Eleuthera .. from the language spoken .. the side of the road you drive on .. to the English expats from whom we rented our vacation house. (They were wonderful - so when you go, let me know, and I will pass along their names.)

Cool
vibe here. Your vocal delivery plays it straight enough to add a heaping dose of irony to the proceedings, and the lyrics are spot-on! My wife and I honeymooned in Anguilla, and your song takes me way past the misty, romantic, tropical 'memory' I have--- and straight back to the specific realities of that trip!!

Thanks very much for that,

SJ

Second honeymoon
I wanted to keep the song simple and straightforward as possible to reflect the idea of relaxing on a vacation. How did that irony creep in? Of course, to really get relaxed and disengage one needs a good three weeks of vacation … and who ever does that anymore?

Always unique
a little less dark than some of your other songs perhaps but still not quite the happy bouncy tune it pretends to be!

Cheers

Dark side
No, no, I wasn't pretending to be happy - I was happy.

But never fear - the darkness is still there, waiting to manifest : )

Hard to categorise, but... It's OK :-) Liking the quirky style that belies the underlying musical skill. Enjoyed the listen. I'll have another drink with a little umbrella thanks. Regards, Peter.

I'm OK if you're OK ...
Just remember to bring your suntan lotion. After a couple of those little umbrella beverages it's easy to forget about over exposure.

Brian Wilson stopped by ... this grows on you ...
I fell asleep at that pause in the middle ... there is something quite humorous about the music but in a good way ... it really suites the lyrics, Enjoyed

Burt and Ernie
stranded on an island. Don't know why I thought of that, but the playfulness of this track and the way it is sung just brought that to my mind.
I don't think I have every heard such a unique production in terms of the sound of the band and voices. Certainly very distinct and it seems to fit the playfulness of the lyrics, too.

Musicianship
It's probably how you think of my level of playing the keyboard compared to yours, Paul, that evokes the allusion of child's play : )
