Description
Brief song idea capture... got a cold so vocal melodies are currently played by piano: 3 part harmony in places.

Thought I'd throw it out for some feedback at this early stage, Not a single real instrument in this version.

With the 6/8 swing, I envisage this ,,hmm.. kinda like an Irish pub sing-a-long kinda contemporary number.

Enjoy!

Lyrics
Row, row, row the world over
To forget what I've seen, I will
Row, row, row the storm over,
If only to get where I've been, I will
Row. (APB)

The world is sleeping, but not I;
One with water, I start to fly.
None to stop me, I race with time;
Internal bliss, a state sublime. (Margaret Gregory)

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing (Roald Dahl)

i think this has a very airy mix. i saw the lyric and kept expecting vocals to come it, but then you did say it's an early capture. really curious how the melody will sound on top of this bed.

Thanks Sammy
sorry Sammy for the confusion. No vocals recorded as yet, as I have a whopping summer cold. When that clears up, I will return to this and do some early vocal takes. But the vocal melody lines are played in this but currently as piano parts... helps me remember. The poems I listed too as some (lyrical) inspiration...

Thanks Michael
Glad you could pick out the chorus vocal line and sing-along. The only trick after that is to go "o-o-ver" and a little pause before the "To forget .." line.. otherwise each words pretty much follows the notes of the melody. I shall return to this.. thanks for the listen and encouragement not to shelf it.

This is really beautiful. Great melodies and I love the arrangement. The strings work very well. You're really on to something with this.

Thanks Andrew
The arrangement might vary a bit (to suit vocal verse/chorus structure etc).. quite conventional... I think I will have to do a Rebsie and do some fake bodhrain style drumming by thumping the back of the acoustic.

Great foundation for some vocals ... nice clear bottom and I like the verb on that rimshot sounding snare. Nice piano and the musical background strings are working well. Nice to hear this one evolve.
Cheers

and evolve it will...
..with a bit of luck. Cheers for the listen and comment Stan. The big roomy reverb seemed appropriate for this kinda number. Oh and that rimshot sounding snare was in fact.. *dun dun dah*, a rimshot!

Hmm
I like the space in it, but I think it could use some more filling. Maybe its the lyrics that need to go over it. Anyway I like the way the instruments are placed. The string and piano don't compete, but complement each other.
