Lyrics
C G Am G
You and me were a pair, it wasn’t the same without the both of us there
C G Am G
We didn’t believe in taking it slow, with the windows down we took to the road
C G Am G
Never looked back, and there wasn’t a time when yielding to thought crossed through our mind
C G Am G
Maybe it’s blind, and maybe it hurts, but when you gamble on love you’re bound to get burnt

F G Am G
But for what it’s worth, I’ve added a shelf in my heart to hold a special place for you
F C G
But now that it’s built, and is already hung my job is through
F G Am G
And I know that I wasn’t always right, but I always looked out for you
F C G C
The same in return is all that I ever expected from you, but what can you do

Still, I think about how good that it felt to be around you but now

It’s different in ways beyond my control, I did what I had to do by letting you go

I know you were wrong, and I know you know too, so I’m not going to preach or be ill tempered with you

But I want you to know that it cut to the bone, when in need of your care, I was handed a stone

But for what it’s worth, after all I have no regrets, and will forever hold tight onto

The bond of trust and the union of comfort I shared with you

And I know that I wasn’t always right, but I always was thinking of you

The same in return is all that I ever expected from you, but what can you do

What can you do
Crisp guitar work throughout. Beautiful voice - warm tone and excellent range - and good light and shade in the delivery of the song. I like the lyrics. I'm not so sure about the boomy drum (seems to me to take away from the vocal a bit, which I regard as the focal point of the song). Talented musicians at work here - much enjoyed!

Phillip18
Thank you Phillip18. I agree with you about the boomy drum. It is an old recording and I no longer have the masters, so I'm stuck with it.

What you have done...
...here is great! Crystal clear vocal, bright guitar, added texture from percussion, and a good lyric. Congratulations on a really good song.

Much enjoyed
Lovely delivery of those simple chords, gorgeous, charismatic voice, nice rhythms. The drum gets a bit competitive for my listening center attentions in the middle. Maybe I just need to give it a chance, so, thanks for the download!

Thank you lyzak. I agree with you on the drum, but it's too late now. As far as the download goes, no problem at all. I want as many people to hear it as possible. I'm glad you liked it. I will be putting many more songs up along and along.

What Can you Do
Well first thing you can do is get rid of that kick drum, and re look at the percussion you have. I am sorry but your beautiful song is ruined by this.
Apart from that, I love your vocals and guitar, that is wonderful!
