Description
I made a couple loops using the teeny keyboard thingy and my mouse pointer. I added some bass fragments. I think I used compression and EQ but I probably didn't. I can't hear any difference. Heh. I'm sneaking it on here. At least, the picture is pretty.

Char does instrumental ambient music! Really nice stuff! Great use of dynamics. The bass synths are rhythmic and melodic supplying a nice pulse for the pads to glide upon. Well mixed too!

Remarkably
easy to make those synths. I couldn't believe how nice something I played sounded. I hope I remember how to do it again. I found some other stuff and I might actually get some other sound. Mixed, schmixed!
I click on stuff and say, choose brightness, listen, hear no difference and that's that. Thank you, you sweet man. There are not many like you out there. :)

i am loving your attitude ("can't hear the difference"). and can relate. for a long time I said those very words. onto the song: I like. i am a fan of moody, ambient melancholy and this works for me. nice sounds and mood. hey did you know that you can use your QWERTY keyboard to play notes? easier than the thingy. I believe that it is under "window" or "view" in GB. look for musical typing. and keep up the recording.

Yeah,
I'm not sure I'm actually changing anything. It is done track by track, I guess. I found the QWERTY typing to be choppy, since I don't play piano. Now, a miniscule hand with finger positions for playing would sure help out a non-musician like myself. I have a Musical Typing piece posted. It is really demented. :) I'll keep embarrassing myself with my screw-ups, for sure.

Aw,
Karen. I was shocked at how nice it sounded considering I was only sliding the mouse across the tiny keys. I don't know diddly. Thank you.

Very nice!!!
Takes me back to my college days when I used to listen to a radio program called Music From Heart of Space. I was studying astronomy at the time. Combined with the photo, it is as if I am attending a progressive art show in a college town and getting a glimpse of the mystery that lay before humankind, as it begins to wade out into space. Very good effect on the psyche. Very much an expression of the times.

I surprised myself.
It does have a sense of what we might imagine if you could hear in space, which of course is based on soundtracks from Sci Fi movies. I can hardly believe I made the thing. I love what you wrote and I'm more than grateful for your time.

Yeah,
the deeper bass was an accident. But I liked it. It's really nice to know that others do, too. Thanks.

I think I did okay, now that several have said so. I appreciate the support for my gas fueled experiments. Thank you.

Love this piece, I think this would work well as backing in a movie.

Cool, I like the spacy synth, definitely sounds sci-fi. Congrats on learning a new tool.

Well,
I don't think I learned the tool. It was more like beginner's luck. I didn't change a thing after I made the loops with the keyboard. I knew I'd fook it up. Took some restraint...not really. :)

Has an interesting spacey feel to it - could easily be the soundtrack to some spooky sort of movie. Entertaining!

bass
I like the huge bass sound. the slightly ominous atmospheric high notes go well with it...

Strangely enough, it reminded me a bit of Italian horror-movie soundtrack masters "Goblin." Or maybe not so strange now that I read some of the other comments!

Yes, for sure.
liked that too. It was the case that a bass loop got changed by being slotted in another track. I'm not sure what mechanism is involved but I got the message that it would be changed. I doubled it with its original sound and added some other loops. I was beyond surprised at how much I liked this. Thanks.

This is real moody ... or maybe it's just me who's moody ... Nice bass synth sound for the ethereal sounds to float over ...nice mix. I enjoyed listening.

Great atmosphere and structure
I like the way you brought the bass in late and sparingly. Nice dynamics - keep experimenting - there is no right way to do any of this.

Believe me,
I have discovered many wrong ways to make music because I'm mainly flying by the seat of my pants. This one was easy. I made my loops, thought it sounded nice and went into shock that it did. I played with some bass loops and accidentally hit on a sound I liked. This is like the Miracle vacuum cleaner joke: "If it works, it's a Miracle!" Thanks, Kevin.

Way cool. Great tonescapes. There's some subtle stuff going on here, with the differently panned and leveled bass riffs. I enjoyed this.

So sorry, Vic,
I had no idea you'd been by. And I am honored you thought enough of my happy accident to comment. It sure feels great when I can make something that sounds okay. Thanks.
