Enjoy The Ride

Description
This song started life a few years ago, and is meant to be a bit of fun using a fairly basic rock 'n' roll chord progression. I cleaned it up recently and added new guitar solos. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Lyrics
Enjoy the Ride

You know if you’re not watching, life can pass you by
You know if you’re not watching, life can pass you by
But if it gets the best of you, at least say that you tried

So I’m heading for the sunshine, with my baby by my side
So I’m heading for the sunshine, with my baby by my side
Don’t care what destination, we’ll just enjoy the ride

Diving in the water
Lying on the sand
Walking in the moonlight
Hold my baby’s hand

Let’s find the sun, leave the work behind
Maybe head to California, drink a glass of wine

Instrumental

Maybe go to Paris
Maybe go to Rome
Maybe go to Texas
Or maybe just stay home

And head for the sunshine, with my baby by my side
Don’t care what destination, we’ll just enjoy the ride

Instrumental

Dive into the water, lie out on the sand
Feel the sunshine on you, take your baby’s hand
When you feel the wind blow, take it in your stride
Whatever path life takes you, just enjoy the ride.

Basic blues...
You have listened to a lot of same stuff I have... great job here, the cliche's are in place, guitar solo in the traditional Chicago form bubbling throughout... well played.

Nice groove, Philip. Easy on the ears and easy on the message. Some tasty licks with the Stratocaster, too. I am hoping there will be some sunshine in Alaska and Canada. Looking forward to that ride. Talk soon, Peter.

Hi Scotty
Thanks for the comment! I do like that ringing guitar tone and catchy lines that Harrison got in songs like "I Feel Fine" - but I also realise that if I could actually play like him I'd be a lot more famous! Thanks for stopping by.

There is such a smooth mellow groove to this ... I know you probable don't want to hear comparisons but it does have that creamy JJ Cale groove. The lead guitar tone is is round ... not bright when I think of a start ... you must have used neck side pickup with the treble down for that smooth sound. It sounds a lot like my jazz tone I get from my old fender jazz master ... nice sounding solo. Good job on the drum placement and I like the live growl the bass gets at certain points.
As someone else has mentioned ... a real feel good tune. I enjoyed the ride...
Cheers

Hi Stan
I'm happy to take J.J. Cale comparisons - you've reminded me how much I like him! The pickup was in the second from the bottom setting (whatever pickup that is using) with the treble up. I think some of the warmer tone is coming from the Garageband setting that I made up to use with the Maton acoustic, but use a fair bit for solos with any of the electric guitars, too (the Compression is set to "acoustic guitar clarify", with some echo and reverb added). Glad you enjoyed it - thanks again for your support and the detailed comment!

Im listening to the track and can hear so much going on. It may be the fact that you filled it up well or you have a lot of elements at work here. That solo at the bridge is nice too. Well made.

Busy
I can get over complicated at times and try to restrain myself, but I keep thinking of one more thing that might work... This one has two guitar rhythm tracks, one picky sort of lead and the solos track, as well as a couple of drum tracks, bass and a touch of organ. So it does have a fair bit in there! glad it came out OK - thanks for listening and for taking the time to comment - much appreciated!
