Silence Of Darkness w/ Vic Holman

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
I posted a version of this song quite a while ago with my vocals and lyrics (which I pretty much hated). As I was really keen on having it done properly, I thought about giving it a different look.

As I finished a collab with Vic recently, I asked him if he would be interested in saving this song :-) He then added vocals and wrote the lyrics for the song.

The lyrics relate to the observations Vic shared with me, which is the basis for them, the way a neighbourhood can be noisy during the day, children yelling, dogs barking, lownmowers, and at night in the dark it's so silent one can even hear his own breath ... Vic said that he likes breaking the silence by making noise with his guitar :-)

In addition to the lyrics and vocals, Vic also did the mix/master for the song.

I would like to tell how grateful I feel to Vic for his help, he's one of the nicest people I came across and such a talented musician !

I hope you enjoy.

Lyrics
SILENCE OF DARKNESS

in the silence of night
and guided by the amber light
we watched the stars fall
and fly out of sight
drifting our tired eyes
on imaginary sights
in the silence of breathe
and whispers run short
there's nothing there to hide
as long as it's real inside
the wind will carress
the last whispered word

in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a blanket of dreams starts to drift in
in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a moment of peace before the echo settles in

in the silence of time
the nightbird flies again
in the silence of motion
where fear will be broken
searching for the hours
and where it all began

in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a blanket of dreams starts to drift in
in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a moment of peace before the echo settles in

the silence seems so barren
i was thinking that
the silence seems so foreign
and we need to make some noise
we tried

try and try to break the silence and raise the dead
we need to make some noise and clear our heads

in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a blanket of dreams starts to drift in
in the dead of night
and silence comes in
a moment of peace before the echo settles in
before the echo settles in
we need to kill the silence and make some noise

Silence Of Darkness w/ Vic Holman
Very cool stadium rocker! I liked your earlier version. But this one is also quite good. Excellent lyrics and vocal. Always impressed with Vic's guitar work. The production and mix are also very strong.

Hey guys
I'd like to say, I was extremely pleased reading your comment Andrew about the guitars ! If only I could play like Vic, in a consistant manner what more could I wish :-) So it really came as a compliment to me. It's obvious that Vic is a great example for me to follow and I'm happy if what I did in this song was halfway decent. And Vic has been so extremely kind to accept this collab even though I'm sure, with his guitar work things would sound even better !

So I can only thank you both for being an inspiration to me and for being so supportive and kind.

You know, I have a tune yet to be built up and I was thinking about talking to you about it. It's going to take probably a lot of time till I finally get to this but a collab with you (of course, if you'd like it) is in my plans. (But please keep it to yourself, Sammy doesn't know it yet :-))

Wonderful guys...
Yves, you always write such great work and your way with putting a track together is always good listening. I think you underestimate your singing prowess a bit too much; however this teaming with Vic is excellent and Vic sounds superb here (as usual). The lyrics are wonderful--a very unique theme about "making noise" and there are lots of action verbs in the lyrics that give the music an even greater sense of movement and passing of time. Full marks to ya both on this! Michael

Many thanks again sir !

Actually the vocals on this version is Vic Holman's (and I believe this really made it REALLY work). I worked on a previous version with my vocals but to my opinion it just sucked :-)

Chris thank you so much for your continous encouragement and interest, it really feels good and gives motivation.
