Lyrics
You Had It Coming

you say a lot of things
they are never quite so clear
you talk about evil demons
they are standing at your door

you had it coming to you
you never learned to save your life
you should learn a thing or two
before the burden weighs you down

you had a lot of friends
that ignore the outside world
you burned your personal bridge
from the words of a horoscope
you never learn

you had it coming to you
you never learned to save your life
you should learn a thing or two
before the burden weighs you down

a lot of years under the bridge
over the river and buried deep
countless times of stumbles and falls
increased the fears you keep

you lost a lot of years
and the tears where never so clear
you greased a lot of wheels
and the backlash secured the deal

you had it coming to you
you never learned to save your life
you should learn a thing or two
before the burden weighs you down

Another winner Vic! As always great guitar work and a wide range of interesting guitar sounds. Really nice lead playing. I'm realizing while listening your excellent bass work may be under appreciated. Great lines, feel, and tone! Once again you impress with a professional sounding production and mix.

seems to me the only time i play the bass is when i'm recording a song. i think here it was mostly keeping the bottom end going. but there have been times where i have really went for it. i appreciate your time for the listen

You
make the most elegant sounding background music. I guess this is a song about Karma. Everything comes back to bite you in the end. But, still, we muddle along.

I have no idea how you do it Vic
By now I should understand - but you are so prolific and inventive. This sound really great - reminds me of so much indie rock I love from the eighties. From The Flaming Groovies to The DB's. Excellent production and killer guitars as always.

Where DID you get that photo?
It looks like the ancient, steam-powered predecessor of my neurofeedback rig... I need to put that photo on the door of the neuro room...

I like the lyrics on this one, Vic, and even though it's still a trademark guitaristical tune, the guitar lines seem to me to be effectively pared down...
Vic Holman said 1720 days ago (July 14th, 2012)
thanks ed
the photo is from a collection of early spokane and surrounding areas from the "10's through the 40's that a local photographer had done. a different world back then. the museum didn't take them, so my retired boss collected 700 of them and took the time to scan them. i can send you a high res file if you'd like

sacks of memories
You pick some great song art. Looks like they are pouring knowledge into that little brain!

I can't tell if this is a song of empathy, accusation, disappointment, or caution. I like the ambiguity. The drumming really drives in places. Full of life.
