Guitars in the Moonlight

Description
Another one which started with a set of chords, and just playing over them until a tune emerged. Having come up with a lead line I was happy with (the one a little to the left, played on my Gibson Howard Roberts) I felt it needed something else a bit edgier. Perhaps a Fender sound? I didn't have one at that time (earlier this year) but one day round at my friend Peter Thorneycroft's place he brought out his recently renovated Fender Jazzmaster. It was too good a chance to miss, so I added some complementary lines with that. It has sat there for a while - I worried about the fingerstyle guitar on the left (thought it had a bit too much ring). Thought I'd look at that, but for the life of me I can't find the latest version GB files! Must have deleted the latest version when I was backing things up somehow, and kept the earlier versions which have a lead I'm not happy with and no Fender. I had exported an mp3, so this is what it is! I hope you enjoy it.

Philip, I have to start by saying Your mixing mastering skills are getting more and more impressive. The crystal clear warm sounds are thoughtfully placed in the soundscape so that each instrument lives and breathes in it's own world. Lovely playing and the strings add that dreamy mellow quality along with your guitars. Real nice Philip.
Cheers

No not too much ring...
thems strings sings...delightful,resonant and crystal clear.....sums up the title superbly....sort of "Albatross" (without the cheesy wave sound) for the 2tee12ties or whatever this decade will be called 80)

Good Job

Excellent playing Philip. To me it sounds like several different musicians across the various instruments so it's impressive that they're all you and you can add those different flavours. A real pleasure to listen to.

You know i'm a fan of that Howard Roberts tone, and it sounds terrific here strolling along this well thought out progression. Beautifully crafted and played.

Hi Chris
Yes, I love the HR - it's got a special ring to it. I started piece this a while ago (it was done before "Guitars in Autumn") and it was sitting waiting for the second guitar which I think makes the HR tone stand out even more. Thanks for stopping by - I always appreciate your support!

Lovely warm, spacious mix, Philip. The different guitar tones blend wonderfully well and the title of the instrumental is spot on. A very fine new franchise addition. I will contact you from o/s in the next week or so. Go Roos! Peter.

Up front...
...The recording itself sounds like it is very much "present" and no so much done in a vacuum, so the overall "feel" is particularly authentic and gives the impression of being "live"... Such a very mellow composition that is exquisitely played and beautifully recorded. I only wish the track were about a minute longer. Such pleasant music deserves a longer play. ... Nice.

Thank you for both elements of the comment, Paul - I'm very pleased it sounded like it could be live, and and even more pleased that you think it could be sustained for longer. Thanks for stopping by!

wow!
You have some talent! I really like the part around 1:30! If you use the the AU Parametric EQ in Garage band and change the MHz of the three different guitars (that I hear)....then they will be more distinct from each other....it's like 3D recording vs 2D . Be sure not to change the gain in the AUParametricEQ.

Glad you enjoyed the song - and I appreciate the technical advice, too. Unfortunately I can't find the GB file for this (I think I may have deleted the wrong version!) but I'll be trying that for the next one, as I usually have a few guitars going. Thanks for the link, and thanks for the comment - much appreciated!
