Description
Got to thinking about Country Joe McDonald when I started this and this is what happened. Considered giving it a more psychedelic CJ and the Fish type arrangement (what an awesome band) - but never got around to it.
Many thanks to Smokey for hosting the festival and to all for showing up with or without music.
Stay away from the brown Lipitor.

Lyrics
When you really need a quarter - but you’ll settle for a nickel
There’s a name for that - and it’s called the trickle
Oh oh - the trickle down blues

Don’t raise taxes on the richest in the nation
Hell – cut back services and lower expectations
Oh oh – the trickle down blues

Polarize us on the left and the right
Cause you can’t shake hands with a fist that’s tight
Let super pacs fund the propaganda
The poisoned lies that they’re trying to hand ya’

Say vote for my man the others a devil
But from where I stand the field looks level
Oh oh – the trickle down blues

It’s hard to separate the bad from the worse
Remember that time when we stayed the course
We’re still paying for that oneway ticket
Put our money on a lame horse – and now we stand around and kick it

When you really need a quarter -but you’ll settle for a nickel
There’s a name for that - and it’s called the trickle
Oh oh - the trickle down blues

Give them just enough to makes ends meet
The foreclose on their kitchens if they can’t take the heat
Oh oh – the trickle down blues

Right there with you brother! Personally I'm sick to death of being trickled on! Great lyrics. So cool to hear you do something like this! Great harp playing!

This is GREAT!!!
After first listening, I'd say this is really good song, with very nice melody that stick to your mind like a drug, as well as superb lyrics (the words, they trickle down in me)...Nice vibe too, and very impressive vocals and recording/mixing. I personally needed this song just in this very moment of not feeling much of the other trickle-thingy-not-going-to-well-for-me. Peace!

nodding
this sparked this:

that girl over there, with the flowers in her hair
doesn't know in forty years, she'll remember what you said
fighting back the tears, she'll be nodding her head
she heard it but she didn't care, what they said back then - it really isn't fair

thanks

Good to hear...

Hey Jack
that trippy thing you posted got me real high. Thanks. The lyrics came fast - since it's been going on for so long they were just sitting in my head waiting to get out. BTW - I do not play the harp - I just got real lucky this time.

Trickledown
Trickledown theory is, I think, one of the bigger cons politicians have inflicted on us. Nice Dylan sort of feel with the strummed guitar, the harmonica breaks and the relaxed vocal. I like it a lot!

You've got this way
of getting a message across, I couldn't agree more, how do we remove our heads from between our knees. The music is spot on and reflects the times. The harp works great, love the tone of your voice. Thanks for the listen.

Good one Bud,
there were protest songs then and there still are with good cause.... 'Trickle down' , they always say that, but it doesn't trickle down does it......it trickles away.......excellent lyrics and performance, cheers M

Trickle Down Economics
Can't hear that phrase without thinking of an interview with Bruce Springsteen talking about Reagan using "Born in the USA" as a campaign song. Imagine a bad Springsteen impression here, "...and trickle down economics weren't tricklin' down to the people that need it".

Anyway, I love this sound. Narrow-your-eyes folk rock for now people. Something Steve Earle would cook up.

The Trickledown Blues
I really like the sitting watching you do this live feel ... this is so real and not overproduced and just real good songwriting. Fantastic lyrics ... bass lays down the groove nicely and I dig the harp.
Enjoyed!

Times they are a drippin'
Really nice. Love the harmonica. Wish a real drummer could've given it more of a Country Joe feel. This would've been a hit back then. Do you play this at rallies? Some great lines.

appropriate
What can make a woodstock moment any more appropriate than a song with a message, especially one that connects with pains of 2012 where we all are being trickled-ON. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - Way to fire us up. :)

Oh!...
I thought this was going to be a song about... incontinence — and it IS. At least that's how I've always framed the theory of "trickle down economics."

There's a gentle rain 'a falling on all the malcontents
It's the spoiled milk of Greed's incontinence
Uh-oh — and it's trickling down on you

Nice job, Kevin. You've cleverly illustrated how the more things change, the more they stay the same. ;)

Trickledown Blues....
You captured two time zones in this ...the Then and the Now......is tha really a phrase or did you coin it yourself...? whatever it's catchy and deep at the same time ..nice one.

You got a nice lock...
...between bass and drum, and then the acoustic guitar on top sounds great...Certainly has a slice of the the Country Joe vibe...I'm another one enjoying the harmonic breaks...Pretty danceable protest tune...I'm imaging the audience shots of dancing people as I listen...
