Description
Hi all, long time no see.

I have been on MJ sabbatical, initially due to work and the need for a break from spending too much time on the site, but then whilst travelling overseas with my partner, Judy, and some of our friends for 6 weeks. We visited Washington State, Alaska, Alberta and British Columbia. It was a fantastic trip! The Alaskan Marine Highway, Denali National Park and the Canadian Rockies were absolute highlights.

The thing I did miss though, apart from my family, was my guitar/s. I had to resort to finding music shops and going in and playing for a while ☺

Anyway, hopefully I am back in the swing of things again and I have lots of song ideas from our travels to try and put into music.

In the meantime, I found this instrumental that I forgot I did. It was laid down in two single guitar takes, not long after I got my G&L ASAT last year, and the title “Time Passes” seemed very apt so I decided to post it now.

Hopefully it will be the first of a number of songs on the way in the coming months.

To all of you whose music I have not had a chance to listen to in the past few months, I apologize.

Take care,

Peter ☺

Time Passes
Peter, so good to hear from you again. You've been missed. What a great trip you took. I did a week in Washington State and Vancouver back in August. A beautiful region to be sure and very inspiring.

Great track to return with. Your lead playing is beautiful. But what really knocked me out was the accompaniment. Such a full and complete sound. Beautiful chords and picking!

Thanks!
Thanks, Andrew. Somehow I knew you might be first to welcome me back. We would love to go back up into the Yukon and Alaska in winter (for a little while) just to see what it is like living in 20 to 40 below with all the rivers frozen. I appreciate you comments. I was surprised to find this when I was looking through my GB folder. I didn't remember what is was until I opened it up and had a listen. Take care, Peter.

Thanks, Mike. I was pretty impressed with how it sounded as well after not remembering what it was, or listening to it, for about 10 months. I appreciate your kind words. Take care, Peter.

Time, does indeed, pass
Hi Philip. It was a nice surprise to open up this GB file and find this forgotten piece. I was quite happy with the complementary tones that I was able to conjure up for both the guitar lines. Now for some new songs! Talk soon, Peter.

Nice intro!
That lone guitar grabbed me right off. So simple, this. Yet, it's totally satisfying in its elegant, soulful expression. Well done piece of music.

Pleasant and Refined.
Those are two words that come to mind while listening to this gentle guitar track. Your lead is played with a great deal of delicate skill and those subtle bass run-ups now and again are just so perfectly placed. A delight in every way. (Recorded extremely well, too, by the way.) I echo those above in welcoming you back. This particular track was/is a perfect antidote to the chaos of the every-day world. So peaceful. Thank you.

Redux on the cards
Thank you, Vic. Glad you liked it. We spent almost a week in Seattle and then drove up the coast road to Bellingham to catch the Alaskan Marine Highway ferry and really enjoyed our time. We got great weather, which many of the locals seemed to tell us was rare :-) We also managed to drink some nice local WA wines! Still lots of the state to explore one day and we would certainly like to come back. Take care, Peter.

Gorgeous piece Peter
Beautiful melody, beautiful accompaniment, and beautifully played. Reminds me a little of the music of Govi (do you know him?) which helped me get through a very rough period a few years ago: "music hath charms..." and all that.
Anyway, back to you, this is superb and, I hope, the promise of more to come. Cheers.

Osmotic tendencies
Thanks for dropping by. There is a Floyd style vibe to the sound, I agree. I can remember it being intentional at the time. Must have been by osmosis. Take care, Peter.

I wondered where you went ... it sounds like it was a wonderful trip. I lived in British Columbia before moving to the East Coast in 2004,,,
Peter, your guitar playing is inspired. Your bends and vibrato (:56) is an example) are wonderfully played. There is so much feeling in your attack. Sweet tone and a really nicely written and performed tune. Glad to have you back!
Cheers

Hi Stan. We really enjoyed B.C. but I would love to come over to your side of the country as well. You never know... Glad you liked this. Any kudos from you re guitar playing is very welcome. I was quite happy with the two tones I dialled up. Glad to be back. Kind regards, Peter.

All I have to say is...
WOW!!! I love this song - I wish I had half the talent of your guitar playing - is there any lyrics to this track? I'm kind of feeling very inspired tonight for some reason and words are just flying through my head for songs I never wrote the music to. Awesome work my friend.
PeterB7858 said 1841 days ago (September 8th, 2012)
No problems
Thanks, Michael. No lyrics, just a jam over a chord progression trying out a new guitar late last year. Feel free to have a go, if you wish. No problems. Take care, Peter.

Love the sound of that tele
The strings in the background fit well with the mix, a sad sounding composition of longing for the past. Enjoyable listen thanks for sharing.

Thanks, John. The minor key certainly gives it a sense of melancholy. Longing for the past is a good description. I appreciate you dropping by. Take care, Peter.

Moody and really captures the heart-wrenching that comes with the passage of time, especially when that passage means a distance or absence of something that you deeply care for and/or miss.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for doing some delving into the archives, Bob. Glad you liked the tones on this. I was quite happy with the way they complemented each other in the end. I'm glad to be back making music, too. Though I would be quite happy to go on holidays again. Perhaps this time with a guitar :-) Take care, Peter.
