Description
This is a song I wrote with my good buddy Arlis Albritton that we used to perform in a band called Wendell back in the 90's. We never got a recording of it and I had fiddled with it some in the past without much success. I had been impressed with some of the work of Peter Bowen here on MJ and asked if he wouldn't mind a collab on the song. He said sure, and added some picking and lead guitar to my strumming pattern and vocal. After an initial version fell by the wayside due to my work schedule and working on another project, I credit Peter for saying 'what about this tune!' a few months later. So, we tweaked some more and here it is! I can't thank Peter enough for his fine lead guitar work that really brought the tune to life.

Lyrics
Every night is just the same
but the other night something changed
interrupted by the door
I had to pick myself up off the floor
I wondered who could it be
I didn't want nobody bothering me
but when I finally saw who it was
right then I knew I was in love

Love
So hard
not to let it show
well I've prayed and I've dreamed
that you'd come knocking at my door
and now
here you are

I let you in
my heart spins
feel I'm walking on needles and pins
could I have some sugar you say
I'd give it to you any day
well I wish I could give you more
as I watched you walk right out the door
and i knew it had happened again
so in love
but you're just a friend

I said Love
So hard
not to let it show
well I've prayed and I've dreamed
that you'd come knocking at my door
and now
here you are

Love
yeah love
So hard
not to let it show
well I've prayed and I've dreamed
that you'd come knocking at my door
and now
here you are

A fine song
Hi Josh. Great to hear this fine song get an airing at MJ. It was a pleasure working with you. You have a fine voice and I really liked the song as soon as you sent it to me for a listen. Glad you liked my acoustic picking and lead. Hope your band album project goes well, too. Take care, Peter.

Here you are
Nice guitars underneath this. Good vocal tone that delivers the lyrics perfectly. Tasting, swinging lead. Neat whistling. I like the harmony vocal, too. Gentle song - I like it a lot! Clean recording and mix. Congrats to all involved.
