Description
This is yet another updated, rough mix, working version of this song. The vocals are scratch with some cut-and-paste to explore ideas and potential.

After a somewhat tumultuous search for a singer my sister-in-law agreed to participate.

Lyrics
Sun, oh glorious sun
A kiss from heaven
A gift for all that comes and all that goes
When the sun shines its light, wherever you are I am with you.
Things we share as true as time, as mountains will rise and to the oceans...

Rivers will flow, the skies will fall, the sun will come up in the morning
These are not tears. I am not sad. Things change but I'll keep on going.

Evening comes but night will end – I know you think it's a new beginning
Make your choices as you will, it's really okay, I'll do my own thing

Clouds go as winds will blow, mountains rise and

Rivers will flow, the skies will fall, the sun will come up in the morning
These are not tears. I am not sad. Things change but I'll keep on going.

If we have some rainy days to live with baby that's just how it goes.
We take it as it comes. Come what may. ahhhh –

Rivers will flow, the skies will fall, the sun will come up in the morning
These are not tears. I am not sad. Life will go on without you.

If we have some rainy days to live with baby that's just how it goes.
I'll take it as it comes. Come what may. yeah –

Seasons pass and years will go like rain falls from the sky.

Nice poppy feel to the song. Light, tuneful, happy vocal. Strong guitars - I do like that solo around 2:15! Spacious mix. Good one, David!

Nice, sunny post, David :-) Your sister-in-law gives the song a youthful, positive vibe. The guitar and bass work provides a really solid sound bed for the lyrics to shine in but I think they do tend to dominate the vocal a bit in a couple of sections. The chorus is very catchy. Thanks for the post. Regards, Peter.

your sister-in-law has a terrific voice! great arrangement. guitars are very nice and never overpowering... although i felt like the solo went on a bit long... but that's just my opinion which you should take with a grain of salt. i really enjoyed this.

Charming. The vocal track has an innocence about it, which is quite rare. The backing track is very nice, not quite as innocent. Upbeat and optimistic might be better words to describe it.

interesting quirky sound and feel. vox easy on the ear and fit really well. chorus a nice contrast to the verse. nice guitar tones. well recorded. feels well arranged. solo fits really well. not overdone but still very well executed. creative stuff. orchestration works really well. i think this is a really cool and accomplished tune. really enjoyed this. it grew and grew on me. cheers graham

That bass tone has a growl to it ... I like it. The vocals really wrap this up nicely. There's a naiveté to the vocals that actually makes it quite unique and interesting. I think when you build with the orchestration and in a few other spots you should double up the vocals (which I think you have) or bring it out front more ... or pull back the orchestration... otherwise what a great performance all around and a solid mix. It also is nice to hear the stages as it developed. If you are a perfectionist then give it one more mix and maybe get her in to do a few random vocal bits and see if you can punch up those parts...
Cheers David

Thanks
Thanks for all the comments. It is good hearing some of the feedback as some comments mention keywords I had in mind — eg. optimism was something I was working at achieving.

The bass is an oldish Mexi-Jazz with EMGs in it. No matter what I plug it into, it wants to growl. For this song I encouraged it.

This mix (especially the vocals) will be adjusted. The vocals will be re-recorded and mixed properly. Right now they are set at one level throughout the song, for the sake of simplicity.

There is double- and triple-tracking, but as there is one take I simply cut-and-paste from various parts of the song. With the new vocals there will be much more effort put into mixing and polishing — then hopefully the song will finally be done!

Hire her.
Fresh and very sweet vocal. Some very pretty orchestration, too. I like what sounds like Celtic inspired rock. Thanks.
