Description
For several reasons, this was a song I was never, ever, planning to post. But it’s been so long since I submitted anything, I figure what the heck.

It was recorded over a decade ago. Long before I discovered the power and ease of Garageband, or a confident singing voice. And much like the situation in this song, the recording is what it is.

It’s about someone and some thing that did and didn’t happen.

Lyrics
Days Not Realized
Words and Music by Demetrius Hill 01-21-99 © Demetrius P. Hill, 1999

When I wake up and you’re not here with me
Something is missing inside
Rise to my feet, although still incomplete
I’m late for my 6 am ride

She lights the room with a candle
And slowly disrobes in my arms
Try not to weep but the tears on my cheek –
Harbingers of days not realized

Lisa, Lisa – funny how we seemed to run out of time
Lisa, Lisa – how can I live knowing you should have been mine?

As the snow melts I know you’ll soon leave me
But we had a wonderful ride
Words can’t explain how I wish things could change
We both know this isn’t right

I see the moon through my window
Reflections of you in my eye
A long limo ride and our worlds won’t collide
That play went on much too long

Lisa, Lisa – funny how we seemed to run out of time
Lisa, Lisa – how can I live knowing you should have been mine?

(Medieval Horny-Horn Solo)

Lisa, Lisa – funny how we seemed to run out of time
Lisa, Lisa – how can I live knowing you should have been mine?

even though i've heard most of your "post-disiac" tunes, you voice still surprises me. so different than when we sang together...and you still sound YOUNGER! great song and production.

Good song. I like the arrangement and the vocal. The chorus is especially well done. The trumpet solo is a nice touch. The crackling is a distraction - the song is so good is is worth re-recording - but I understand what you're saying in the intro. Much enjoyed!

That phrase and the way you sing it really sticks in the head, very cool feeling this song has, the crackly noises gives it an old feeling, but in a great way If I could download it I would! :)

The crackle sounds like an old record ... good vocals ... like when you go from soft to belting it ... "I see the moon from my window" that section has some tasty vocals. Good tune ... you should consider re recording it.
Cheers

I'm not sure what you think is missing about that singing voice. It sounds good to me. Certainly right for this song.

Nice work.

The retro feel suits the song. It has a vibe from an earlier time. I like it. The chorus gets inside your head. Thanks for the post. Regards, Peter.

What a nice song
I'm glad you posted this. It's a very unique composition. The trumpet was an interesting choice for the break but it works really well. I like the progression and the guitar takes you through nicely. The organ hints a little like Led Zeppelin especially during the chorus. Your voice is spot on and it has a nice vocal melody to it. The effect of the vinyl scratch is pretty cool but imho I believe it would have been nice to fade it out at the beginning and that way the listener could enjoy the full spectrum of the music without having to listen through that effect. Just my two cents worth. It's a really cool song and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Reminds of Jethro Tull. Nice changes. I wish the vocals were up in the mix a db or 2, they sound good to me.
