Description
Still in a blank period creatively, so I've had a play around with this old Debussy favourite of mine. Another to add to my forthcoming Electro-classical collection. Ha!

It's one that Isao Tomita did beautifully, all those years ago. Anyway, it started life as a PD midi file, but I've chopped it up rather a lot. I used some favourite sound settings from my synths [Zebra, Albino, Omnisphere] and this is the result. Again, hope I haven't murdered it too much.

Murdered indeed
If you did, it was a beautiful death Dave.... I thought you once said you didn't play piano, but this sounds so classy with the really lovely synth sounds..... so soothing yet fresh and clean.... just lovely, regards M

Synth workout
Well constructed, the textures worked to enhance the composition.
It is after all very French isn't it?

Nice
Although Tomita did some extraordinary things, especially for his time, I prefer your choice of sounds any day. Very tastefully done, even if I am not too familiar with this piece. To me it sounds like you're sitting in a vestibule or something playing for your own fun and relaxation, but hoping some others may enjoy too - and we do!!

Thanks, and take care,
Henke

Arabesque
I enjoyed this piece, Dave. The tones complement each other well and your version overlays a subtle jazz feel. Glad I stopped by. Regards, Peter.

Electro-classical
Whenever you're in a creative doldrums, this kind of thing will do nicely. One of my favorites, beautifully rendered.

Lovely.
I have always loved this wonderful tune by Debussy. What you have done with it is very interesting and very pleasant to listen to. I think it is cool that you have folded in a few jazz chords here and there and otherwise made this a unique composition with many of your own creative licks. I think your synth stops are quite pleasing and I enjoyed this whole creation immensely. I'd beg to differ with your self-assessment that your are "still in a blank period creatively." Seems to me that you are definitely NOT in any blank space at all. This little creation is proof of that. The perfect cover tune!

Snowflakes are dancing again
I'm not sure if I have any vinyl left on the surface of my Tomita album which had this piece. Thanks for posting this Dave - it is a fresh take which nods to the earlier synth interpretation without copying it. I was waiting to hear if you would include the 'bwap-bwap-bwap' synth but you didn't. Nice timing and feel throughout, just the right amount of backing to let the lead line come through. A most satisfying and tasteful treatment. Hats off to you Dave.

Cheers,
Doug

I, for one, am looking forward
to your forthcoming collection ;-) This is lovely work Dave, and when you're in a blank period, reworking an old tune, yours or someone else's, can get the juices flowing again. A beautiful listen and I took a copy, thanks.

I'm not
sure why, but I was thinking I'd heard something like this in the 60's. Maybe, I'm remembering the sound of an electric piano which was new to me, then. Lovely work. Thanks.
