The Void (An Immersive Ambient Mix)

Description
This mix is based on an idea the Richard (Richard13) had about listening to my last upload..."Have you ever thought what kind of music you'd make if you were confined to a starship on one of those lengthy journeys through space?" Yes, and this type of music would come to mind.

This mix starts off with almost a riff progression which then is taken over by a more Ambient chord structure. The riff keeps poking its head above the maelstrom of the cosmic wilderness, reminding the listener of the order amidst the chaos, though at astronomical orders of magnitude, so it may not be immediately obvious to both the listener and observer.

Confined to a starship...
on one of those lengthy journeys through space... Isn't that what we all are, even if our "spaceship" is quite large ;-) Anyway, I think this void is filled with a lot of nice stuff, more so than in some of your earlier space ambient pieces, if I may say so. Quite nice even if on a darkish note.

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Hi Henke....
You have a very good point with our very own 'spaceship' home.

The extra fillings are artefacts caused by using 'moving' multipart presets in Zebra 2. The sounds are from the Hybrids collection. They are just my sort of sounds to play with.

Take care.

The Void
Actual void filled with stars and stars filled with potential void. A sacred journey through space and time. :)

Hi Harald......
Your comment is a great description and one I hold close.

We are all, in one way or another, on a great journey through both space and time.

Take care.

Thank you Paul
and I am happy to have inspired this rather lovely, reflective piece, with some strange subtle sounds woven silently in the tapestry. I took a copy thanks.

Shades of 2001
Made me think of Dave on that long trip to Jupiter and far beyond, confined to that black and white room where he ate meals and grew old alone. There's a hollowness to the feeling you create with this particular soundscape that is haunting and lonely and somehow very sad. Music created in a vacuum and for a vacuum is perhaps the saddest artistic expression one can imagine for a human being. Don't know if you had any of that in mind, but that's how I'd describe this lonely adventure which you have composed so exquisitely.

Hi Paul....
Your description of this piece fits rather well. I've often thought about that mind changing film I saw in the early seventies, 2001, and I know just where you're coming from. The second film, 2010, was also very evocative, in similar ways.

Take care.

Paul

The void
Nice contrast here between the relaxing tones in the background and the dark chords.

Enjoyed!

Hi aRcTip....
I've listened again, and you are quite right about the contrasts in the mix. I didn't listen closely enough when mixing the tracks. I also didn't hear the chords as 'dark' although they are!!

Take care.
