Mic check

Description
A short blues in F.
This is the first recording using a pair of modified MXL 990s on amp cabinets and modded 991s on drums. I think they're going to be quite useable. Buy cheap Chinese mics and turn them into the mics you want. In this case I wanted a pair of fig.8 small diaphragm condensers for guitars and room mics. Royer ribbons would be nice, but I can't afford them.

Whatever gets you through the night, Henry
but the music's way cool (as usual). And, also as usual, I took a copy, thank you. (PS: I like the idea of a "literal" title ;-)

Check
What a tasty, yummy track. Fine musicianship on display here. What exactly did you do to enhance cheap mics? In english, please. I'm a techno-klutz!

Mods
Too much for a quick answer. I've been fooling around with these mics for a couple of months. They feel "finished" now. They sound smooth and natural. Figure-8 small condensers are hard to find, and I wanted a pair. Some modifications panned out, some didn't, but I took pictures and I'll do a write-up for audioimprov.com.

Mic check
Sounding great through my headphones. Great dynamics and a fine sense of space. Fine musicianship and a cool track. What more can one ask for? Thanks, Henry. Take care, Peter.

It was a good set.
I wish I'd put up a pair of room mics. This would have made a nice live recording. The audience sounds like they're in the next county.
