Scintillations ( An Ambiental Mix)

Description
This mix came by way of an accidental experiment. I was putting together an arrangement, in Energy XT, and removed the MIDI source/keyboard from the three Zebra 2 synths and even though note input had stopped, one instance kept making sounds. As soon as I chose to change the preset, the sounds stopped, so it was lucky that I chose to record this five minutes or so of sounds.

Scintillations
Ah, accidental experiments, love 'em. This is a really nice sound. It's like it's got a life of its own! Spiritual of sorts. I've provided myself with a copy.

Hi aRcTip......
Yeah. I've tried about 40 presets up to now and maybe two of them have half decent progressions, in this same 'ghost in the machine' way. Only another x thousand presets and a few hundred synths to go through now!!! I soon became tired of the unmusical sounds coming out of the headphones.

Take care.

Paul

Hi Dave.....
As with my comment above. Not all presets behave in this way, mainly Pad's, in fact only Pad's up to now. I've tried many over the last few days.

Glad you liked it.

Take care.

Just like
echos in a canyon or whistling through forest trees, this sounds like something you could hear in nature. Your equipment must take every opportunity to sing on its own. Cool. Thanks.

Hi Char....
My equipment singing boggles the mind!!! There must be ideas for other Ambient pieces with that thought in mind.

Take care.

Star light, star bright...
Ah, yes. It is that. Very gentle landscape here that does NOT sound like an accident at all. Great that you captured this. ... visions of a star ship zooming through endless space where there is no sound, but only occasional sparks of light. I can hear this number being the accompaniment of many a planetarium around the world. Gorgeously restful and, in its cosmic way, peaceful.

Hi Paul......
It does seem restful..I started reading one of my novels whilst it was just playing to itself and recording. It didn't interrupt my flow of thoughts and attention at all.

Take care.

Cool
Although it's very restful to listen to in its own right I guess it would also make a decent base for further development. Really nice, thanks for posting :-)

Take care,
Henke

Hi Henke.....
You are quite correct. It is a decent base for some melodic overtones. If I have time over Christmas I'll see what I can do. Or if you want to play around with it yourself, feel free.

Take care.

Atmospherics
It's impressive just how evolving this preset is and the gorgeous tones it produces. Zebra does seem to be a bit of a wonder. Just got the ZebraCM from a magazine and am keen to give it a spin.

I think the title scintillations is spot on to describe this captured moments in time.

Thank you Paul,
Doug

Hi Doug.....
I tried to find out the exact details of the preset used to produce this mix but I didn't save the details. I'm going to have to recreate it from scratch.

The Zebra CM has many wonderful free presets to download and listen to. I use it to analyse sounds, as it's more easy to get on with than Zebra 2.

Take care.
