A Waltz

Description
I think I am stuck in the 19th century while channeling my inner Chopin. This little waltz isn't as florid as Fred's stuff, but it is very transparent since there are generally only two lines of music in counterpoint. It's a short little lilt that I hope you will enjoy hearing. And if you are interested in seeing or playing the score, you can find it (at the bottom of the list) here:

A Waltz
It is true sometimes we lean toward a feel or a style yet this is what the soul can express itself with so be it ..and its a very wonderful piece lot of gentle touches but I m more pleased to hear the line at 2:00 cos this is a very characteristic mood and its definitely PFP ..Brilliant Piece !

Hints of Nostalgia and a Little Sadness
Well now after hearing the mid section it brightens a fair bit - almost like moving from the memories evoked from looking at a sepia photo to rolling back time and there you are younger, in the picture, in full colour.

You have a lovely touch as ever, and the sense of timing is magnificent. It is interesting as I listen to this a second time through how the timing itself - stripped of pitch or rhythm - is so very evocative can carries a meaning all its own.

I don't know if you get tired of us saying this but it's a gift to all of us. Thank you Paul!

Be well,
Doug

This music is beautifully satisfying. I close my eyes and listen to you bring freshness and life to the classical style. Absolutely delightful.

Fred!
That guy was good, and so are you Paul--this was lovely and beautifully performed, a classic style mixed with some wonderfully modern chords. Thanks so much for sharing this (and I might mention here, your audio quality and mix is always worthy of the RCA Red Label series!) Take care now, Michael

PS
I'm gonna try it! Thanks for so generously sharing the manuscript (what program do you use for notation Paul? I use the "Notation" software myself, but it always looks slightly loopy!)

Red Label
Well, it's nice that a few of us remember the RCA premier label. Thanks very much for that comment. Very generous of you, but most appreciated.

I use FINALE software for engraving all of my music. It's not the easiest program to learn, but it does everything one might desire and the results are industry-standard if one takes the time to make them so. Sibelius is cheaper (and easier to learn, they say) and provides all the tools one would need to get excellent results.

One day
I'll find a Paul Page piece that I don't like.

Beautifully done Paul.

You make it sound effortless and that's the mark of a true musician.

Cheers

Dick

Well,
Fred was Polish, after all and he had a hell of a time subduing his naturally tendency to bring in the rousing strains of the polka. :) Very sweet. Thanks.

Sometimes you evoke this effect, Paul....
...and I don't think that it's a bad thing, of playing something that sounds like it has been, always and forever, at the back of my mind. As if it has been there as part of the soundtrack of my life at other times, off and on, always familiar and always being revealed for as long as I can remember....

This would be one of those...

What do you MEAN, you composed this last week?...It's been kicking around in my DNA for decades....
