Description
Haven't been here in more than 2 months....
Too busy....
A friend of mine sent me an article the other day and in that article was one verse of a poem by a famous Dutch poet, J.C. Bloem
About the passing of time and the melancholy of autumn.
I can relate to the poem, I can't stand these dark days....
This is the first song ever that I did in my mother tongue. (Dutch isn't a good language for songs, but I just had to try it...
I added a rough translation :-)
All instruments, vocals, mix and artwork by me
Hope you like it

Lyrics
November

Het regent en het is november
Weer keert het najaar en belaagt
Het hart, dat droef, maar steeds gewender,
Zijn heimelijke pijnen draagt.

En in de kamer, waar gelaten
Het daaglijks leven wordt verricht,
schijnt uit de troosteloze straten
Een ongekleurd namiddaglicht.

De jaren gaan zoals zij gingen,
Er is alengs geen onderscheid
Meer tussen dove herinneringen
En wat geleefd wordt en verbeid.

Verloren zijn de prille wegen
Om te ontkomen aan de tijd;
Altijd november, altijd regen,
Altijd dit lege hart, altijd.

It's raining and it is November
Again autumn returns and overtakes
The heart that , sad, but used to it,
bears its secret pains .

And in the room, where patiently
The daily life is lived,
Shines from the desolate streets
An uncolored afternoon light.

Lost are the very roads
To escape the time;
always November , always rain,
Always this empty heart, always.

The years as they went,
There is no distinction anymore
between deaf memories
And what is alive and waits patiently.

Fine song. Wish I'd kept going with Dutch. German helps, but not enough. Thanks for the translation.

The music for this great - really, and your vocal style and the way you placed it in the mix, is very interesting. I have no idea what you are saying, but the language barrier just adds to the mysterious aura and unique feel that you have created with this, and it was very cool to listen to - really enjoyed!

hey cees
i love this....one of your best.....probably because you're singing in dutch. i disagree about any language not being good for songs - you make this rich and alive, and the mix is so warm and enveloping. great picture too.....what a talent you are.

Real nice piece of art ... like a woodcut ... stark and moody like your song. I agree, it's great hearing this in Dutch. Thanks for the translation but when I listen to it without them I still seem to get the feel of what you're portraying by your phrasing . This is such a strong piece of music in my opinion and your ending is cool with the last unexpected cymbal hit. November is my least fav month. I find it depressing ....
Cheers

Thank god, november's over. :) But I enjoy your song now we got December and it's still great. Excellent production and the guitars sounds nice. Your vocals fits to the november-mood we all are in, in November. Although I'm German, I don't understand much, just a few words here and there. So thanks for the translation.

My second favorite month. One of your best KC. Personally, I think it's a nice touch to sing in your native language. From someone used to hearing 99% English, I think it adds an extra bit of personality to the piece. KCsGROOVE finds another cool groove. I really like the dual backing guitars. Drum track is very good also.

Wow!
As everyone has already said, this sounds great, from beginning to end. Very smooth backer overlaid with a contrasting texture of spoken Dutch. Every time I hear it I will know it's about November because you say it understandably (to English speakers) at the beginning and repeat it a couple of times. Yes, I took a copy, thank you.

Wonderful adult, contemporary groove here, Cees, and the Dutch works a treat. It gives the song such a unique and inviting character. The bluesy, RnB backer is just fantastic. Thanks, Peter.
