Lyrics
Judgement Day

you threw away your charms
trashed your crystals and tarot cards
two more days until judgement day
no one will stay no one is sane

silent dreams that will stay
here on judgement day
you went away
here on judgement day

twist and turn in your sleep
the nightmares run so deep
one more day until judgement day
wading through the moral decay

silent dreams that will stay
here on judgement day
you went away
here on judgement day

hells open house for the dead
sold out show please move ahead
no one stays after judgement day
no one will remember your name

silent dreams that will stay
here on judgement day
you went away
here on judgement day

I take things from the bright side
If we have a few days left, at least we are spending them listening to great music like this !

I'm amazed, many people are so anxious about some Mayan calender of such long ago, although it takes no effort just to see around, how screwed up the planet is and how fast we're heading to a planet with a complete destroyed nature and resources and a destroyed morale.

Cool track! Those glassy razor sharp strat tones kill! I love the straight up rocker vibe. You bring in the heavier guitars at all the right moments. Great work Vic!

Moral decay
Great lyrics. Really liking the almost straight ahead drive of this. The measure extension during the verse is so cool. How do you come up with those kind of things so naturally? That insouciant guitar belch at 2:30 is slick. Clever tom/snare work. And as always, top mix. Everything in its place. I will now have to go on a long voyage of self-examination.

well this song in particular went through a lot of changes from what i originally started with. so new ideas would come in and some would go out. i had it all figured out before i started to record. i actually recorded all the music in one sitting one afternoon.

... mining caverns deep down, killer song. Atmospherics on this tune are amazing. Love that rhythm guitar thing... cool. This may become my new favorite Christmas song. ;-)

I really like the way this drives. Dig a great job with inventing the drums and bass ... guitars have a nice edge ... great lead tone ... good lyrics and a pretty cool doomsday tune!

I think you missed out...
...on that chance to sneak this onto the 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy' movie soundtrack... You know, for the bit where the Vogons are destroying the earth...

Great hardhitting start to the thing... I don't know what's in there trying to be a cowbell on steroids, but it's neat...

I like the wide range of guitar tones, and I like that the guitar tones have meat on their bones, more crunch and thickness in the lower midrange, and the bass is nice and fat... I also like the way the drums are played and sound...I like the drum riff thing that goes on throughout the song... I also like the funk-meets-metal rhythm chords... Neat biting lead tone and playing...

Vic Holman said 1768 days ago (December 18th, 2012)
thanks ed
vogans.... i'll keep my bathrobe handy just in case of a fast evacuation.

what you're hearing is the bell of a cymbal. since i had fairly treble rhythm guitars i decided, on the leads to add a wah as a low filter to give it a bit of a growl. the other lead guitar i add a ringshifter at a lower deeper setting as well.

This is super cool. The guitars have a great tone and all the riffs are nicely sculpted. It sounds all modern and also like my favorites from the 60's, so I really dug it!

Wading through the moral decay
This rocks along like a hot knife cutting through the 'moral decay' and then comes the break with that hot guitar solo and the piece becomes a chainsaw, grinding through with intense clarity. Love the retro feel and vocal doubling here and there.

And two Fender strats? I'm curious about the difference between them that couldn't otherwise be created with effects boxes (you can tell I'm not a 'real' guitarist). I wonder about how you get your drums to sound so natural too since the performance is spot on.

Appreciate you letting me take a copy VIc. Be well,
Doug

2 strat. the one that does the rhythm work tends to be quite bright. i have a older 1986 strat with a humbucker that is a fatter sound so i used that on the lead guitar stuff. the drums are midi that i play on the keyboard. i tend to break them down to 2 or 3 tracks with fingers just tapping away

wading through the moral decay
caught up in the rat race of desensitized lemmings headed for the calendar cliff. End of Days. Tick tock, tick tock... winding down the atomic clock. Out with a bang or a whimper, the human race "has got a lot a Splainin' to do." See you on the flip side. I always did wish for a pair of wings and to learn to play a "Harp". I'm getting board of the Kazoo. lol : ) You come up with some great lyrics ~ and on the spur of the moment too! Great song, Vicar.

re: thanks carole
I'm laughing because I have a kerosene heater I wasted $100.00 on that is still in the box from that 2001 fiasco! ;~ P The Mayans ~ Nostradamus ~ The Haley's Comet religious purple kool-aid, follow the leader kids : ( ~ and I recall being extremely pissed off when my daughter's father [borderline genius I.Q.] wasted an entire freakin' day driving me and our 18 mo. old daughter from Burlington, VT south and all the freakin' way around Lake Champlain, so that we would be as far away as we could get from Plattsburgh AFB (N.Y. State) when Armageddon supposedly was to happen in what was it '81 or '82???! When he finally fessed up as to the impetus for the road trip, I wanted to Armageddon HIS ASS for making my infant daughter and I suffer thru a 12 hr. (at least) car ride for no other freakin' reason than Mr. Smarty Pants' miscalculations re: The End of The World!!! Aauuugh!!! He is still alive (as are we all), but only because I'm a good Christian! Taking care of a small child's needs on a long car ride, plus her being incensed at being strapped in a car seat like an astronaut for HOURS!, to say the least, tried both my daughter's and my patience!!! My ex was wicked smart like my friend Bill, but my ex was a bipolar M.I.T. freakin' JACKASS! Some people are just too brilliant for their own good! Maybe the Mayan calendar whiz just ran out of fingerpaints, or chalk, or figured that his civilization couldn't possibly die out before some future Mayan would continue his work because he was tired and bored, and wanted to go do something else, like spend time with his family!!! And not in a freakin' Subaru 4WD Station Wagon!!! ((God, I do miss that car though ~ my 1st brand new car I ever bought ~ Silver w/ Orange & Black 4X4 logo stripes. Best car I've ever had, until years later, F-ing ex #2 wrapped it around a stand of small trees (stinking drunk) in a VT snowstorm!!! A__H___!!! The world will not end with a bang, but a whimper ~ having done ourselves in ~ we human souls are our own worst enemies. How SAD!
