Description
Back to Basics. Two voices against each other worked for the old timers, so why not me? Running at only 2:35, No. 76 gobbles up the notes in a big hurry, but there's some interesting back-and-forth and imitation that cooks along with everything else in this breezy little dance (a number that desperately wanted to be a jig, but just couldn't quite make it to that level). If you are interested in reading or playing the score, you can find it here:

I hope you enjoy this new selection in my collection "By The Numbers."

Brilliant as ever. I hear no "hurry." This flows along at a perfect pace pausing to breathe at all the right places. We are so lucky to a have a master like yourself posting works like these here.

Sophisticated and gentle.
Easy to listen to and has a gentle effect in spite of the complexity hidden within. Very striking combination of classical/romantic and jazz influences; I had to listen twice to be sure my ears weren't deceiving me. Amazing playing as well as composition.

No. 76
from the book of Paul, gobbles up the notes at a breakneck pace compared to my playing. Breezy, as you say, and beautifully done. Perhaps the next one might be a jig.
Have a wonderful merry Christmas, Paul. I hesitate to wish you a prolific new year for fear you'd never get any sleep ;-) but I will anyway. Cheers.

This is very much a piano piece...
...and yet there are parts of the structure, especially at the beginning that reminded me of guitar or guitar-and-fiddle sort of dance tunes. At other parts, I found myself imagining it reset as a piece for a small chamber performance.

Adaptable little tune, Paul, at least in this listener's ear and mind.

Delightful
Rolls along beautifully. Full of happiness. Played with your usual consummate skill - you have a lovely light, precise touch on the keys. Lovely melody. A joy to listen to - thanks for the download!

Inventive
Interplay of voices flows nicely as intensity builds. Lots of pleasant surprises throughout. Nice addition to the numbers collection.

Hi Paul.....
This piece is just what it is. I could hear the notes strive to break out but they never really pushed the boundary enough. That is OK with me. The notes were exactly what was needed in the special circumstance of this particular composition.

Other times the notes will weave their magic into other tangible forms that may include the jig that was not meant to be in this piece.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year together with your family.

Take care.

Paul

Great number
No slacking in quality in spite of the quite respectful quantity - 76! (And that's apart from all your other pieces ;-)

Thank you very much, for this and for "always",
Henrik

Oh
what a lovely way to start the New Year.
Playful with extremely expressive playing with what I believe are touches of chromaticism.

Cheers and a wonderful New Year to you Paul,
Charlie

Like two brooks
splashing over moss covered stones as they weave together and apart, traversing a gentle slope through the forest. Sometimes passing through little pools, sometimes over pebbles, sometimes over rocks, but always moving forward under the momentum of the water's delight in playful running at the pace that suits the moment.

I appreciate this addition to the Paul Page part of my iTunes sir.

Peace,
Doug
