Description
Ignore the earlier version of the desciption, this one's in E Minor. This is really an experiment to see what I could do with the choral samples I have. Most of them are public domain sound-fonts I downloaded and so they are available to anyone with a wish to make something for massed choirs. A tip to anyone is to use several at once with slightly different pan settings but all the same notes; it makes your virtual choir sound bigger. You can make it sound even bigger by adding minute varying delays to some of them as well, though I haven't used that trick on this piece.

In the end this turned out suitable for the time of year due to the type of music, though it's inspiration comes from elsewhere.

Cool (for a piece about fire ;-)
I'd say the experiment was a success. Nice one. I took a copy, thanks. Merry Christmas.

Thank you!
I have always liked the sound of a large choir, so this will be just the first attempt to write music for such an ensemble.

Journey through fire
Interesting sounds. The voices are well done - it does have a cathedral feel to it that suits the season. I like what you've done with this!

Thanks.
I'm glad you like it. The use of several choir samples at once panned differently gives a passable imitation of a much larger choir. I hope to make more music using these voices so watch this web site!

It seems the experiment was a success.
Which is encouragement to try more work with these voice samples. Thanks for the encouraging comment.

Thanks!
Yes, more experiment is needed to develop what I can do. Thanks for encouraging me to do just that.

Really nice
Choirs are hard to do, I think you've made an excellent attempt here. I've used this in a few of my tunes:

http://www.camelaudio.com/Dream-Voices-Sound-Sample-Library.php

Not free, but the Alchemy player you can use them in is and they work really well. Some of Apple's own offerings are not bad, but I don't think they're the best. Omnisphere has some great vocal samples you can tweak, but is a costly outlay!

I shall have to have a look at some sound fonts. I haven't used them much, but I guess, as you have done, you can get them sounding OK by adding reverb, echo, delay and so on.

Nice tune you've put together anyway.

Thanks.
Oh, yes! I've had that Dream Voices sample set on my wish-list for some time, and as soon as I get some spending money I will buy it. Sadly at the moment I am limited to surviving money only, so it's pay the bills and wait. Alchemy player is superb, I use it to allow use of a lot of the free sound-fonts I have collected from the web.

Thanks for the link and the encouraging comment.

Journey Through Fire
The quarter note bass line gives this just a bit of a jazz vibe. The choirs have a warm Mellotron sound. Thanks for the description of your creative process. It was as interesting as the piece was enjoyable.

I love "walking" bass-lines.
You may see a lot of those bass-lines from me, as long as I can come up with different ways to use them. Thanks for listening and the encouraging comment.

Walk with fire
Nice vocals and harmonies. The walking bass is, eh, somewhat incongruous... But I could get used to it. The second half where it becomes more of a bass/synth riff works better for me.

Thanks!
Yes it's an unusual combination, choirs and a jazz bass-line. I guess it could never please everyone, but I'm glad you like the vocal harmonies, which were the main point of this experiment. Thanks for the comment and for listening.
