Mr Departure
Has a spacey feel to it, which I guess from the picture is the intention? Love the tone of the guitars and the way they run across the stereo spectrum. I like the build in the arrangement. It sort of has a live feel, in that you can hear the individual contributions from the various instruments, but it is very integrated. I like it a lot!

Hey John
Thanks for coming by. I will have to do some listening. I appreciate the Deadhead link, but that's a generous comment :)

Sounds like a lot of fun was had.
Live? Has an improvisational feel to it, and it sounds like a bunch of very skilled musicians since it ties together properly in spite of that. Well done all who contributed.

sounds like
Quicksilver Messenger Service ..IF ... they had of kept their heads down at the Fillmore and not inhaled the "fresh air pop" that eventually was fatal. Cool track.

cool
funky, jazzy, spacey, maybe a touch psychedelic?. anyway, a nice combination of sounds. I hear the san francisco vibe others have referenced but it's got the Daug stamp all over it.
enjoyed!

My Canadian Friend!
Thanks for the listen. This does sound like me, I mean my guitar style is instantly recognizable, to me anyway lol. The harmony features the usual Daug tricks, interestingly, this is the only piece I have ever posted centered in the key of A at 440. This is also kinda fast for casual jamming at 160 bpm...

Ah? Naw...
I listened to the Todd piece, it has not the slightest similarity to Mr. Departure. So, I find your comment confusing.
The Todd tune 2nd Wind borrows elements from an '85 Allan Holdsworth Band album. Todd is a great thief. He's also wise enough not to attempt to play legato style over a Holdsworth style groove.
Anytime you wish to compare my stuff to old frozen nose (Todd) go right ahead. He used to gig at my high school. Never met his mom, but I never saw Todd with high school girls either ;)
Perhaps though, you have inspired me? Let's see what the Mjers can do? I could remove the guitar tracks and set up an open collab. We might get some vocals? Anybody?

Hello Stan
Ah, okay. Tame it is. Thanks for stopping by... always appreciate comments. Especially from people with great ears! If I push out the backing track as a collab I can expect everyone to make the changes in the keyboard line? The jam thing is what I was going for... but now I think Jack is onto something. Let's see what we get...

Charday my ass!
Love you guys. I thought you had left town. Great to have you back in the house. Little jam for yer ears there... kinda get lost on the whole tone harmony ah? The barking is what it is all about!

well executed ensemble...
I never quite know how to categorize your music. Probably not a bid thing, though. Everything plays its part here. Nothing over-riding anything else. Semi-frenetic kudos, Daug...

Hello Jack
Just me having fun. If you count the tunes I erased in 09, there were more than 60 Daug tunes on the MJ. All of them sound like me more or less, even the collabs. I must be stubborn. Thanks for stopping by the house, more stuff coming soon.

Mr. Departure
I agree with the others who hear a lot of the Dead in this. But starting @2:20 it breaks out in different directions. My 70's ears can relate to this.

Crazy man. Just crazy. What a wash of movements, passages, improvs. The slathering of reverb puts in a giant hall of chaos. Cool.

Hello Skunkwrx
Thanks for dropping by for a listen. Please, try the collab out.
Is this really a lot of reverb? My idea is to get a live sound, the sound of the drums bouncing off the concrete walls in the back of the venue... not really much more reverb than that... the rest is illusion.
