Did You Find Sanctuary?
Inventive ... sounds like you had fun with the cool drum sounds ... I'm still quite amazes with what you can create on an iPad ... stretched , synched
and modern. I enjoyed this.
Cheers

Fun tune
Dave, those are some nice sounds you are getting...sounds like a fun track. I like the beat overlapping at a couple segments. Hope you are doing great.

Drew
Thanks, Drew! I had lots of fun making the drum beats, maybe too much fun-- I always go into it thinking "this time keep it simple!" Maybe someday I will, LOL.

Some kind of territory...
...where something techno-ish and an almost punk attitude towards drumming come up against some James Jamerson bass playing...

And THEN it gets weird...

Very much enjoyed, David, and it adds to the pile of things nudging me towards getting brave with my own iPad. How far did you take this on iPad before taking it to GB in the Mac or Macs? Was it just the drums?
perceptualvortex said 1541 days ago (January 6th, 2013)
Thanks, Ed
Yes, just the drums were made on the iPad (I added a couple of hihat loops, but the rest of the drums come from DM1). I exported the beats to Soundcloud, downloaded them from there to arrange in GarageBand (on my iMac) where I added the cheezy-synths. I mixed down from GB and took the results into Soundtrack (on my Mac Mini) to add the bass loops and everything else. A convoluted way to work, but I'm happy with the results :) Yes, you might as well give in and see what your iPad can do.

It matters not
how you got here, it's that you did (imho). The possibilities these days are really infinite. Cool track reflects the fun and sense of experimentation you obviously experienced.

Just about
everything I listen to at the moment seems to have an underlying old school RnB groove. This starts off in that area, and the bass is certainly partly responsible. Some lovely synthy bits and pieces. I'm on my iPad at the moment and it sounds great, will listen more on the iMac later.

About
Thanks for listening, Neil, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The bass loops can't help but add something of a human element to this otherwise robot-heavy song, probably because that's the only real instrument being played. But fortunately, I love robot music :)

Even though...
... I don't have an iPad myself, this makes me want to mess around with some apps on something other than my computer, haha! Nice work here. Always a joy to hear something new from you, PV.

Yeman
It's always nice to hear from you (and I did get your recent email, and have to say that you should be everybody's role model). The iPad is pretty cool, with all it's crazy music apps; my interest in them waxes and wanes, and right now it's waxing. Thanks for listening, Yeman, it's nice to hear from you.

I gotta play with the DM1
I got it and never messed with it. How delightfully retro, this is like if Devo scored an Atari game. :)
