Lyrics
One More Friend

1.
The road that I have travelled
The sights that I have seen
The times I’ve travelled quickly or too slow
With all the years behind me
And all that is ahead
There’s much that I have leant, much more to know

2.
The world is full of madness
The world is full of joy
A heart can fill with pride or with despair
And whether I am facing death
Or re-inventing life
I’ve learned it won’t be more than I can bear

Middle
There's always room for one more friend
There's room for one more song
There's room for many memories
And for every morning sun.

3.
I will take the byways
I will watch the sea
I will laugh out loud, I will be free

Instrumental verse

Middle
There's always room for one more friend
There's room for one more song
There's room for all the memories
And to feel the morning sun

4.
On this road I travel
Of all sights that I’ve seen
There’s room for one more friend, there’s room for you
There’s room for brand new memories, and for you
There’s for room for every morning sun, and you

Enjoyed
A teenager couldn't sing this it has the feel of that Sinatra song, "It was a very good year". You have to have lived a fair bit and be able to look back and reflect to write this. Love that line "there's always room for one more friend and song"...damn right. Well done Philip, going to have to DL this one!

First song with my coffee this morning and reading your words are an inspirational way to start the day... there is always room for one more song ... very positive. Nicely crafted tune and a good performance all round. What are you using for your very sweet tele lead ?

Hi Stan
Thanks for the comments on the song - your thoughts are always appreciated. The Tele is an American Standard using the bridge pickup, and plugged straight GarageBand as a Real Instrument, then fiddling with the settings (compression set to Electric Guitar More Attack, some echo, some reverb, and lift the EQ bands to get a bit of gain into the sound). I do like it - has a bit of edge to it but still sort of sweet. Not sure it can match the sweet sound of that Jazzmaster of yours, but nice nonetheless!

Amazing piece of work.
Your playing is exemplary. Not flashy or wild, but peaceful and refined and perfectly expressive. The song is also sung with real emotion. Anyone who can sing makes me jealous, no one ever asked me to sing to them twice LOL. Anyway, well done on this, it's easy on the ears and soothing; as I first listened to it just before going to bed last night it was just the right way to end the day.

Contradictions
Not so much a contradiction, perhaps, as a reflection of the broad spectrum of possibilities. Why is the spectrum so vast, and why is it filled up? Very well presented. Cool and confident. Nice photo, too. The man himself, looking at ease with the world.

C'est merveilleux, Philip. Especially so, accompanying the pâté, fromages and Chablis I am enjoying at the moment. It has a refreshing, uplifting message and the lyrics are well crafted. Just the right number of guitars, too. The Tele sounds great. Je lève mon chapeau à vous, monsieur. A bientôt. Peter.

Special.
Adding to all the fine comments above...
This is quite a stellar arrangement and your playing is superb. The guitar solo at 2:00 or so is so so mellow and beautifully played...such ease in your style, such certainty. One thing that I really enjoy especially is your use of the bass: it's not everywhere, but when it comes in, it always punctuates your harmony in a subtle and very pleasing manner. The piece itself (composition and music) are first rate writing in a folk style genre that so suits your pleasant vocal delivery. It is truly a blessing to hear such a fine song performed so flawlessly. Many bows and congratulations.

Thanks
I appreciate the comments, Paul, although I perhaps should say that the "ease in your style" in part comes from setting Garageband on loop where there's a solo and just playing over and over till I get one that I'm happy with (which could be anywhere between 2 and 20 attempts). Your generous comments are much appreciated - thanks for listening!
