Elective Introspective

Get Flash to see this player.

Well Happy New Year to all MJ'ers. Not getting a lot of new stuff recorded right now although Steve and I have got a back log of about 10 we must get around to working on.

In the mean time here's an oldie that jumped out of that phrase “Elective Caesarian”which I think a friend was having at the time. I guess all song writers are by default elective introspective's to some degree!

So this is just a little tune with 4 verses of unrelated events I happened to remember in one sitting. As always Steve did some great playing on guitar and mandolin and I even got my sons “Bontempi Organ” out for a few chords at the end....such fun!!!

Elective Introspective

A Boy in ‘64
Winds up his mechanical mouse
And it shoots across the floor
Goes out in all directions
Crashes into doors
Never gets to see the mantelpiece
But sees a hell of a lot of the floor

When Roy ran away from home
He only got as far as the Tytherley road
When he’d run out of anger
There was no one about
He ran home again
Before his mother found out
He was gone

And my Dad always said
“You can only do your best son”
But my best wouldn’t be your best
You see there’s more than just one

I’m an elective introspective
I stab you in the back for the greater good
Maybe I’m loosing my perspective
Maybe I didn’t treat you
As good as I should

Election introspective
I like the images you create through the lyrics. Energetic playing and vocal. I like those chords towards the end - smooth! Much enjoyed.

Must be the DNA
Honestly Chris I never set out to write songs with a Prog influence but I guess it must be there from all those teenage years growing up listening to that stuff. Mind you I loved Dr Feelgood as well!!

I'm diggin' Steve's folksy acoustic guitar and mandolin playing. They weave nicely in and out with your plaintive singing, Mark. Cool tune by you two.

Sorry Mark
I somehow missed this.

Fascinating lyrics. Reminds me of Neil Young and I was expecting some crashing drums and guitars to come piling in ;-)
