Trippy....
...but in a way that's right up my alley. Bizarre, sometimes unsettling textures undulating in interesting ways. Nice work.

Now this is somewhat different
If I had tried to make this I might have given up partway through, but you obviously had something in mind and and carried on until you were finished. I agree with Max that this is bizarre and undulates in interesting ways. Not something I'd want a steady diet of but I listened twice. Cool experiment.

definitely unsettling, but that's not a bad thing. the voices (?) that enter around the 3:30 mark are scary. nope, wouldn't want to fall asleep to this music. i find that this piece is a bit too disjointed for my tastes, but it definitely leaves an imprint on the psyche. i like that.

It's funny how creepy the vocals came out; I simply took some higher-pitched female vocals and slowed them down a bunch. Yeah, I get what you mean about it feeling "disjointed". Unfortunately its probably to late in the game to repair that so it'll just have to stand for its textural elements.

unnerving
cheese! looking at your artist info icon and listening to this - at the very least - freaks you out completely! Hope you're a much happier and balanced person than the face in the painting (haha!).

Seriously though, from a technical point of view I think the drone, glitch and sample work here is excellent. Good intensity from beginning to the end, and lots of interesting soundscapes.

Minutes 7-8 I find particularily good. Reminds me of Sigur Ros's song Valtari.I'd be quite curious to learn about the way you created the track, which effects/engines you used, and how much of it is recorded vs midi?

I don't mind at all that the texture changes in many places, and being used to a more Biosphere'ish style which is only slightly calmer, I'll only admit that the voices I found a bit too creepy to enjoy. You still got me to listen to the whole piece though! Well done.

Thanks for giving it a listen and all your kind comments. The avatar is a King Crimson album, which is an awesome album if you don't know it. I assure you I'm a lot more up-beat than the impression this gives, lol.

Most of the overrunning sounds like strings, lower-register instruments, and whatnot I did in midi. The glitchy stuff I mainly took from VHS generation loss tapes I found on youtube with some of my own effects placed on top. 3:30-5:00 uses a lot of Beach House samples and at 4:20 there's some from Clams Casino. I use a lot of pitch-shifts with samples to create some impression of melody. I used a mix of garageband and audacity to actually put this stuff together.

I'd say I'm principally a guitar player but I play other instruments as well. I've been uploading songs here because I appreciate getting feedback and like the online community here. Most of the songs I upload are ones I'm contemplating before putt... [see more]

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
