Chasing After Sprites

Description
The main track is a tempo-synched Alchemy bass preset with some modification. The sprites are played by GB's Orchestra Percussion Kit, and the atmospheric sounds are a GB synth pad Floating Embers with manual adjustments.

The image is by Kristian Cvecek, amateur photographer and full time physicist who spends nights in German forests waiting for fireflies to glide past. Using slow shutter speeds, he captures their delicate movements as they dash between trees and ferns – creating mesmerising patterns. I prefer to think of the fireflies as pixies, fairies or sprites.

Who knows
what goes on in the forests at night? I like the sombre throbbing bass tone as the sense of the unknown and movement.... and then the flitting delicate tinkling of the 'sprites' as they play in the air...... going all classical these days Richard and it's good to have variation, cheers M

Chasing after sprites
I like the way you have the contrasting sounds that suggest the chaser (more urgent) and the chased (lighter). Good one, Richard!

sprites
Sparkly sounds over a mysterious background.... Yep, "chasing after sprites" covers it nicely. I enjoyed this track. The slow development is pretty cool.

Atmospheric
Great vibe to this - the intro reminded me of John Carpenter scores (a good thing). Very atmospheric and a great sense of motion to the track.

Hi Richard.....
This is a very enjoyable electronic mix. I think that the image fits rather well with the music. A job well done.

I'm off now to find more, if possible, of Mr Cvecek's work.

Take care.

Paul

Into the woods
First you had to create a dark, brooding, mysterious woods for a setting .. and then let loose the darting sprites to flit through that enigmatic place. Very nicely achieved!

Interesting theme. Interesting photo. I like the way the repeated bass riff floats around the stereo space and the percussion tinkles in and out. You have captured the sprite imagery very nicely. Take care, Peter.

The pulse...
of night! Maybe. As good a representation of that as anything else I've ever heard. This could easily be part of a larger soundtrack for a film with night footage, perhaps an escape or a stalking or, really, any number of things. What I really like about it is (1) your control in playing it, (2) the pleasant bass synth you've chosen. ... I can actually hear a melody growing out of this — a minimalist one, but, nevertheless, a melody. Just a thought. ... I enjoyed this track. Very soothing for some reason.

Nice imagery!
Musical and otherwise. The soft pulse invokes thoughts of slow, mystical movement. Much like fireflies in a dark forest. I had seen some of these photos before, and they are really beautiful! One small idea - I'd make the bell tree maybe half the volume or even less. Otherwise this track is perfect - except maybe it could be 5 minutes longer and then loop:)
