Description
The all-important first line came easily. It was the second line that proved difficult. Thirty possibilities were tried out. Finally, all of those possibilities became the song.

Lyrics
LOVE SHACK [Buckley Smith]

Take me to your love shack
Hit me like a blackjack
Blow me like a smokestack
Flip me like a flapjack
Treat me like a bootblack
Eat me like a health snack
Stretch me on your torture rack
Pull me until I go slack

Shock me like a shark attack
Stalk me like a maniac
Enthrall me like a brainiac
Amuse me with a wisecrack
Enthuse me like a laugh track
Toss me like a gunny sack
Fill me up with what I lack
Kiss me like you're never coming back

Stuff me like a backpack
Floss me like a dental crack
Sauce me like a Big Mac
Tongue me like a Tic-tac
Adorn me with bric-a-brac
Talk to me with your yackety-yack
Shoehorn me with your clickety-clack
Inject me like a seismic frack

Slash me with a machete hack
Bash me with baseball whack
Abuse me with a thumbtack
Scare me like a heart attack
Tie me to the train track
Arrange me like a line of smack
Take me to your love shack
Kiss me like you're never going back

I thought .....

Brown wrapper songs
Yes, kids, be careful what you wish for .. because the trip to a love shack can spin off in unexpected directions.

Lyrics
The rhymes kept piling up .. until it became obvious that that was what was meant to be : )

Love Shack
At first I listened without reading the lyrics. I wondered how long you could keep the rhyming scheme going. Surprise, surprise, all the way to the end. Cool backing track. I like the minor chord progression. The changes give it a cool surf music vibe.

To read or not to read
That is always a consideration - do you peruse the lyrics before listening .. or not. Since a song is meant to be heard .. probably not. But it is also meant to be a literary exercise .. so reading before listening also makes sense. I do it both ways .. but usually choose on a whim : )

Big, big smile!
Very clever lyrics: congrats on being able to keep it up (no pun intended ;-) and the music is gently perfect. Even the song art is both appropriate and humorous. Great post; thanks.
I especially like the timeliness of "seismic frack".

Clever
The odd thing about its cleverness is that it didn't start out to be the way it became. You know how this goes - you start out with an idea and somewhere along the path of its development it decides to head off in a different direction .. and suddenly it feels like you are just along for the ride : )

Brilliant!
You have a real knack for this sort of thing. They ought to put your name on a plaque.

Great stuff Warren!

Knack for ack
Knack .. hmm .. that "ack" rhyme didn't make it into the mix.

The problem with getting your name on a plaque is then you have to find someplace to put it : )

Hmm .. plaque .. another rhyme that didn't make it. Dick, you obviously have a knack for the ack, too!

Very funny! Not sure what's going on in the picture, but I guess that's the love shack? The music rolls along nicely with the lyrics. Continually engaging. Good one, Warren!

I love
the tongue in cheek lyrics and expression in your voice as you sing them.... I was expecting a version of the B52's 'Love Shack', which I loved, but this is just as entertaining. I know what you mean about lyrical possibilities becoming the song too... it's sometimes the way my lyrics work out LOL.... really enjoyed this, Regards M

LOL
The title shared with the B52s was purely coincidence; there was never any thought of trying to tap into their distinctive aura. In fact, I guess I unconsciously ignored that song, because there wasn't any intent to imitate. Whatever themes I hoped to explore simply disappeared in the deluge of rhyming lines. As you note .. it became an LOL moment.

I admit, I thought I was going to hear a cover song but was glad to hear what I did. Surfer-porn kind of feel. Very fun for me to listen to.
I especially enjoy the line "blow me like a smokestack"
Very good job on the rhyming scheme!

Beginning and ending
Beyond the pile-up of end rhymes .. the other literary challenge was the developing the front end verbs .. which also started to rhyme. It's crazy how something simple can get rather complex when writing a song.

Definitely NOT whacked.
Clever. Kind of a quasi-melodic rap with some very down-home accompaniment and an easy rhythm and harmony to hold it all together. Must have been fun finding all those rhyming lines. I enjoyed the listen.

Interesting way to write a song, Warren. I like it! The eastern flavoured guitar work sets the tone and the rhyming lines are a hoot. Your layered vocals sound spot on. Enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

Influences
Eastern feel? Must have listened to too much sitar music back in the 60s. As for tremolo - that got inculcated from too much Venturers .. even earlier : )
