Someone Else's Thing

Description
Kind of a mid-lifey jam inspired by finding oneself in a particularly deadly meeting and thinking that some mistake has been made, and there must be some other person out there who would be more ideally suited to this kind of thing. In actual fact, I can usually just do my work and don't have to go to too many meetings, so there is some imagination involved here! However, the song popped into my head and seemed to want to come out. By the way, I'm pretty sure everyone else at that meeting probably felt exactly the same way!

Lyrics
A roomful of eyes,
and some of them on mine
whatever they're expecting
i seem to be rejecting it
inaudible insistence -someone else's thing
meets invisible resistance- someone else's thing
but here comes trouble - someone else's thing
to break my bubble, someone else's thing
New system, new coach
trademarked transverted approach
turn down the signal
turn up the noise
TURN UP THE NOISE
sub-lunar frustrations - someone else's thing
where's my invitation - someone else's thing
to where the grass is always greener - someone else's thing
& also brighter and cleaner
New system, new coach
trademarked transsverted approach
turn down the signal
turn up the noise
TURN UP THE NOISE
tell me why I'm doing - someone else's thing
it might be leading me to ruin - someone else's thing
but after 20 years & all, of someone else's thing
I guess it's pretty hard to call it someone else's thing

Meetings
The whole administrative side of things is of course necessary, but just not really my cup of tea... Not sure why I felt the need to complain about it in song, though. Turning into a cranky old man I guess...

First agenda of meeting.
Shall we all just go to the beach??
All those in favour say Aye.
Cool track full of good little surprises
Sort of Cars, Ben Folds feel to it without drawing too heavily.
Weird Modulated Synth noise BTW
Great stuff
Cheers

I
love the rhythm guitars, a very catchy intro that leads me in and had me hooked all the way through the song.
Nice arrangement and great vocals, excellent work here and very much enjoyed.

I like your lyrics ... been there. This rocks ... like the guitars and a the solid bass playing ... the synth is pretty cool too ... has a real analogue sound. Enjoyed the feel.

One of the seven habits of successful indie musicians is not to go to meetings! :-) Cool and catchy. Congratulations. Regards, Peter.

Meeting about meetings
I hear ya about meetings, most I have to sit through are taking about the previous meeting and then making plans for the next meeting! I spend most of them thinking about things other than work!
The vibe of this song suits the subject perfectly. I can imagine the video: Your sitting doodling on a note pad in a boring meeting, someone asks you a question, you grab a guitar from under the table, jump up and start singing! Great stuff!

guitar under table
That would be funny indeed. Ideally, I would morph into the guy from Twisted Sister at that point.
Yes, that's how old I am!
Many thanks for stopping by and checking out the tune.

Relic goes Tempie?
I had to double chck that I had clicked on your song Alex - I though it was Craig at first! It shows how you share that classic rock sensibility with him and plenty more besides. I love the simplicity, the slightly different approach you've taken with your singing. That keyboard "wobble" is great - adds just enough campness to the overall rock. I'm digging that flanged phased guitar too - I never seem to be able to pull that off.
A top tune - one for the iPod.
