This song is going to be part of a bigger project I'm hoping to finish sometime. This is why it's not downloadable at this point.

Lovely synth work
A lot of potential here Yves. I really must get off my butt and do something!

Stands up nicely as an instrumental. I like the clean electric guitar work. The piano part is quite lovely. The mix and master are quite good. Looking forward to where you take this one.

for your kind support. I'd like to have this one along with a few others to make sort of an album. Doing this I wanted to make sure it'll sound coherent with the rest, this is why it's like a WIP sort of thing.

I'm enjoying hearing more of your guitar playing, Yves. Nice interplay between the synths and the guitars. Nice blend of tones, too. Prog rock lead break! Perhaps the drums are delayed a fraction too much (or reverbed too heavily)? I just found myself thinking they dragged a bit. Very interested in where this is going. Regards, Peter.

Actually the instrument I really like is guitar, but it requires still a lot from me to get decent about it. Still, I try to make as honest recordings as I can. There is some reverb, specially on the snare, but some of the lagging might be due to my timing. Specially when recording, I get quite nervous and it often affects my timing.

Hi Yves ... I really like this as is. My favourite part is when the piano comes in with the acoustic guitar rhythm and then that lovely sustained lead and staccato lead follows. Good mix and a creatively done piece.

I heard what Slyvia said
she heard. To get more Western flavor, you'd need some coyotes wailing. I hear the mood I'd ascribe to a man traveling alone through some huge landscape. The piano is very bright and pretty. The guitar is sorrowful and really demands attention. That's very intense. Thanks.

Good
Yes very nice Yves. Great mixture of sounds. Interesting and emotive melody lines. I'm wishing for bigger and more complex drums that can aid in the flowing dynamics of the song. Otherwise, I think this is pretty solid. As others have said. It will be interesting to see how this fits in with this "bigger project"!

Huge.
This sounds like something that could be part of a powerful album or a movie soundtrack for something set in a vast landscape. The guitar that bursts in at around three minutes twenty is superbly played and fits perfectly with the soundscape it's laid over. In short, skilfully composed, skilfully played and skilfully recorded. Whatever you're doing if it all turns out this well it will be something to be proud of.

Actually if I consider the time I spent, I should say guitar should be my primary instrument. But having never taken lessons, I didn't work efficiently on guitar. Only recently, I focused my progress to a more conscious ways. I really enjoy playing keys but somehow, I seem to feel at better ease, although compared to playing guitar, I have a shorter history on that. It all helps me to build up a piece of music without being a real virtuoso in neither one. I wish I was younger :-)

To be honest, I have little merits on the tones, there are a few settings I like a lot, which are part of the amp simulator I am using. It is of course possible to create everything from scratch but so far I've been using the ones that are closest to what I'd like. I'll start daring a little more about trying out different combinations.

Swirling majesty to the melody. Plenty of variety in the instruments you use. That guitar that bites in at 3:23 is entertaining! Very good already - it will be interesting to hear where you take it, Yves!

Personally
I love the chord progression. The highlight of an already well thought out piece is definitely the guitar intro at 3:23. It is always a challenge to pick just the right note.... I also love the bell synth that plucks in toward the end. Mix is sharp as Im sure I can hear everything. One suggestion I would make is to spice up the percussion. It does tend to make everything else drag a little to my ears. But you have plenty to work with and the developing skills to get you there. Cheers!

Kinda
has a Metallica-esque opening- then it went all saxy on me.. (color me surprised). The strummed and spangly acoustic guitars sounded best with the sax and a beautiful piano. Expressive bending in that solo. Enjoyed that Yves, thanks for sharing.

Synths
Considering how awful synthesized saxes usually are, you've done a great job making everything sound plausible. Layering those sounds definitely was the way to go. Nice guitar work too.

Hi Vic
Thank you so much for your kind support. It's really a lucky find, this sax sound, I like the vibrato it makes on prolongued notes, for which I don't have to do anything particular actually, it's really very easy to use. Many thanks for your visit, I very much appreciate.

The big picture...
If this is the beginning of your larger project, it is a start which suggests amazing things to come. You have achieved a very broad sound bed and interesting chord progressions that, to me, act as a prelude to something intriguing on its way. I'll make the assumption that there is a narrative upon which to hang all of this introductory material as the project pans out. ... Looking forward to hearing the chapters as they unfold. What a great start.

Lonely
Ideal for a movie theme. I like the way you have that very familiar riff repeated throughout the beginning section. The Sax theme brings in a 007 feeling of the 70s. The multiple variations allows it to be broken up and used in small scenes through the film.

Angular continuum
I like the guitar continuum, a perfect twang and clarity. There is something angular about this, its pace, its straight 8ths. The guitars are the best aspect. Well played and recorded.
