Description
After many years of living in rented accommodation with rubbish landlords me and the Missus finally
bought our own home so this song is about that and the good feeling that comes with it.
It's quite happy and upbeat...for me.
I've seen the Doctor and he says it should pass and I'll be back to my miserable song writing self.
many thanks to Ben Boldt for his banjo preset.
Drawing by me.
Play loud and have a dance!

Lyrics
Some days now have passed since December
These thoughts have gone out of my head
I'm looking at curtains and cracks in the ceiling
I'm thinking of buying a shed

This is a place of beginnings
We're leaving the past way behind
Making some plans for our future
and seeing what things we can find

Never had four walls to build all around me
Somewhere that I could call home
Planted some seeds in the garden
And maybe we'll reap what we've sown

This is a place of beginnings
We're leaving the past way behind
Making some plans for our future
and seeing what things we can find

We'll go for a walk in the country
Or maybe a drive to the sea
The future is what we are making
The future is just you and me

This is a place of beginnings
We're leaving the past way behind
Making some plans for our future
and seeing what things we can find

Congratulations!
Nothing like owning your home. Get yourself a tool belt and start buying accessories for it. Nice upbeat feel to the song. Enjoyed.

Nice feel to this ... a bit of an island groove. Some nice guitar work and the percussion is well placed. I like the banjo which kind of accents the percussive feel. Good clear mix and a good positive song. Good luck with your new digs ... and no more landlords!
Cheers

banjos
I don't know if it falls into the Soca classification so I put the banjos in to try to un-classify it.
I'm chuffed you like the mix as I really rate your mixing skills.
Thanks for dropping in and your comments
cheers

What do you mean?
thinking of buying a shed..

Of course you will, it's de rigueur. Then you have to fill with all sorts of unnecessary things that one day you might need like that 3ft piece of 4x2 that's going to come in handy for something.

Nice uplifting piece Brendan!

Congratulations and welcome to the home ownership tribe comrade ;-)

Cheers

Dick

sheds
It's just trying to decide WHICH shed. There's soo many to choose from. Somewhere to keep the bicycles and then I'll start collecting all the unnecessary things.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

A
wonderful upbeat song Brendan, I like the percussion and the lyrics.
A lovely guitar break and the rhythm has that nice Caribbean island vibe to it.
Very much enjoyed.

Good luck in your new home and I'm with Dick, you have to get a shed :-)

Oh Oh!
Now that you own a house you will never have time again to make music ;-) And that would be a pity 'cause this is a fun tune. Maybe the best thing to do is to buy that shed and move into it. Then you can rent out the house (you get to be the landlord) and use the rental income to pay other people to fix things or paint or landscape. That way, you won't have to be bothered by anything except making fun tunes.
Or not.
Anyway, congrats on becoming a homeowner, on making a fun tune, and on the fun drawing (is that you with the banjo?) Cheers, mate.

time
Oh, I've got time to make music. I've finally got a den to put all my music stuff in and make music..and put off the decorating. It's just so good to have a place to do it.
Yes, the drawing is me with the banjo ( could you not tell?)..and the Missus is on the right but she's much more gorgeous than the felt tip pens would allow me to express.
Thanks for dropping in and glad you liked it
cheers

Yay!
Absolutely, having a home of your own beats the alternatives. There will always be something to fix or improve but it is your nest and it must be a reflection of you and your solace and hideaway from the world. Nice and upbeat with a bit of Island lilt. The banjo makes it fun. Thanks.

Congrats Brendan. On the new house and the sing. Upbeat, positive and joyous. And just think, now you will always have something to do repair/renovation wise on your weekends... Regards, Peter.

Now
this is what music should be. Inspiration from the heart. Superbly uplifting. I can hear all the instruments though the banjo could be just a tad louder for me. The percussion is rally nicely placed. Enjoyed immensely... thanks!

Your Own Hive
Congratulations on your home and the cool song, which I hear as sort of a cross between The Kinks and Jethro Tull. There are parts where I think some high-harmony oo-oo's would help break up some of the repetitiveness, but I still like the feel of this song.

It sounds like you're... right at home. ;)

cool
Domesticity rocks. LOL if ever two words were less likely to make up a phrase. But it's true, it does! Fun tune. Although you sound so serious lol. I like the little lead break. And the percussion is jack johnsonish. Who can't be happy with that? Seriously, joyful songs are the best, (even when they're sad).

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. My landlords were actually fine, but when I acquired a missus we decided that stability required an owned home. So now I'm gardening for the first time in my life, et cetera.

So far it's been relatively fun. Your upbeat condition may actually persist.

Enjoyed the song.

home owner!
It's a wierd feeling isn't it? We moved up to Gerlan in December too, out of my high street flat - from cacophenous noise to absolute silence. Now I'm worried about spilling stuff on the carpet and building a wall... Nice upbeat peice. I prefer your more miserable songs, but I get the sentiment.
