Bike
Just what went thru my mind when I was bike riding as a kid. Actually not too far from the truth as I was introduced to Zappa fairly early in my childhood. This tune evokes a soprano sax.

Hello Andy
Zappa again? Even with direct quotes from John Williams melodic figures from the ET movie, it's all Zappa all the time. The idea that any poly rhythmic composition that features marimba and polytonality in the horns must be a nod to FZ is pervasive. Just goes to show how iconic Zappa's music is for many people.
This is the plain jane version. If you get your soprano running again let me know, I will send you a file. Thanks for your kind support.

I can't help it. Last soprano sax I had was borrowed. Didn't you say you were gonna get me one for my birthday?

The way home is going to be rough
'cause this sounds downhill. ET has a way with a superman. Enjoyed, now for a nap.

Ride yer bike
You may be pleased to know that I've never really listened to Frank Zappa so won't make any comparisons to him - for me, this would go well in a French movie, or a ride through a busy market. Somewhat frenetic - some downhill pedalling here - but I enjoyed the different sounds and rhythms. Entertaining.

Hello Philip
Thanks for your steady support! I'll have to take responsibility %$#@, since I have been drafted as the FZ guy, consider all the FZ material up to about '76. You may have to do some research but every ounce of sound means something, nothing is silly or throw away- that's not in Frank's nature. Remember to laugh. His work is all available on the net it seems. After 1984 the releases seem to improve a bit. Warner Brothers made a mess of his products for about 8 years or so... He invented the Warner Brothers Sucks movement. All Frank's bands were great for different reasons, listen to any live material. People have trouble with Frank's ideas because there is always lots of music stuff going on, and he's a chronic iconoclast. He's actually somewhat of a conservative, kind of a weird conservative I guess. You know most people, except the musicians maybe, just wanted to buy what was played on the radio, imagine!... Frank didn't do payola.

St. Francis would be proud of you.
Saint Alfonzo would be proud of you...git on da bus! Nice, not to many notes at all, Daug! BTW the black-pages and synclavier stuff hurts my brain, but I've been mesmerized by the few high-res videos of the Yellow Shark Orchestra performances. And--oh--by the way, this li'l tune of yours is pretty nifty, too. Sorry to fall into all the FZ talk...you're damn talented, Mr. Daug.

don't know how you think musically this way .... it's never the same ... you never know what the next bar will morph into. Kept me interested right up to the gong.

Ride Yer Bike
I cycled all the way on this warp speed sonic bike ride and got to the end feeling tired but satisfied. "Unique" understates the creativity of the music. Impressive work. Thanks, Peter.

Supercycle Cougar X-500
Banana bike with a big honkin' three speed shifter on the crossbar. Wheelies across the gravel school lot in late June, the air is sizzling with summertime and the cicadas are buzzing. We never wore helmets back then. Music like this banging around in our heads, who needed helmets? We would fly. We would soar over danger, grinning and laughing, hands off the handbars.

Easy to get lost in this, man - fascinating rhythms popping off in wondrous layers that paint images I just sled on through in my head. Sounds like chaos if you're not paying attention, but there's not a thing out of place here - a bicycle race ridden by genetically accelerated hamsters who ride in and out among each other, in different directions, in and out of completely different dimensions. Wondrous stuff!

Now, that's wonderful encouragement, but I must say, just following the Muse here. I gotta work harder to live up to that stuff...

Ride Yer Bike
Moves at a frenetic pace. There is a lot that we have to pay attention to, so it kind of reminds me of a group ride with a tight paceline. Plenty of ascent and descent as well. I agree with the others on the Zappa reference.
